Almost every desi living in West have downloaded some kind of Azan software on their computers or their smart phones.

I bought Al-Fajr alarm clock from Mekkah (its also available in USA, online and some muslim retail places). I think that is the best think I purchased from Makkah. Mrs C, I would strongly recommend it.

^ you set it per you location, and forget it. Azaan is loud enough (you can raise or lower the volume) so you can hear it from every room. It teaches kids to respect Azaan and most importantly, because time of diff prayers change so fast in North America (especially northern parts of NA), its hard to keep track of it otherwise.
Most of all, because its a dedicated clock, instead of a downloaded app on your phone or computer, its gives it special status in my house, that I like. It dooes not go out with me when I go ouot (unlike my phone), not it stops functioning if the supporting gadget is off (like computer), plus my kids learn to hear and respect Azaan when its loud enough

While I love the Azaan clock idea, I also think that if you have a family at home with little kids learning prayer, parents need to take the time out to teach children how to recite the Azaan, Iqamah, and then stand in jamaah and pray together. Helps build unity and teaches submission. But that is a different topic...let me start it :D

you do not take your computer or laptop out with you and will work same as the azan clock , unless you turn it off once you are done.

That is what I said. So with computers, Azan function depends upon whether the computer is on or off.

I had a program on the computer a long time ago. I keep track of salat times with the calendar now.

Prayer Time Pro for Android and Islamic Finder's Prayer Time App for Iphone are great. You take your phone everywhere and you do not always turn them off like computers. You keep the clock at home and normally don't travel outside of to work with it. You can put a buzzing alarm instead of Azan even during meetings so no one is disturbed and so that you do not forget after the meeting.

haha I know and I am sorry about going against the actual discussion. I was just stating my point of view on why apps are as good as azan clock. At least to me. I know I know I sound little selfish
