i am sure you may have read or heard this Ghazal somewhere coz its one of the most popular Ghazal written by a great poet of Bollywood [he was more of a poet than a lyricist] and sung beautifully by an equally famous female singers of the past in India. Her name was Begum Akhtar.
Its the right forum coz this is in the “IntiKhaab” section and which means “selection” [from the poetry]
in, invariably, all Ghazals the last couplet contains the taKhallus [pen-name] of the poet, usually within “quotes” and in this case, its “Shakeel”.
