The mechanism of avatar presents quite a few philological problems. One problem is “form” - translation and alteration of God.

A Hindu friend of mine was insisting that I was an avatar, because I introduced to him a different kind of awareness. I tried to explain to him that God cannot be contained, but he insisted that I was trying to limit God and I was Him … auzdubillah … of course I avoided him before I started to get a god-complex.

Yes we belive that there is a spark of Divinity in all of creation. We don’t have a judgement day and paradise of virgins for enternity in our afterlife. Our objective is to nurture that flame of Divinity and get rid of other impure or human attributes and finally merge into God.
This may take many births if necessary but it is all one long journey. The first step in this journey is to cleanse yourself of the 6 passions and get rid of it. They are: kama (lust), krodha (anger), lobh (greed), moha (attachment), mada or ahankar (pride) and matsarya (jealousy) completely. I am sure you have not taken an inch in that direction. So any God - complex you may have suffered from may be your abrahamic god complex and far from ours. So sorry bro!
