In this modern day and age, we Muslims have become so unmindful of Allah’s presence that we say and do what we wish, without the slightest thought of being questioned about it on the day of judgment. Our neglect causes us to carry out many sins without any hesitance or feeling of guilt. At times we even consider some sins to be a source of pride and share it with others to gain appreciation. This act increases the severity of our sin as we not only become a source of encouragement for others, to do that sin, but also make them a witness of our sin. Thus making our own trial and forgiveness difficult on the day of judgment, because when we make witnesses, then it no longer remain a personal matter between us and our Lord.
How many times do we control ourselves from bad words and actions “only” due to the thought that Allah (swt) THE ALMIGHTY is watching us ? It is such a hurting thought that we would immediately stop a bad deed after seeing our parents, relatives, friends or colleagues, which indicates that we are aware of their existence and “believe” in their presence. Is our belief in their existence greater than our belief in Allah (Nauzubillah) that the thought of their presence has a stronger influence in preventing us from a sin ?!?!
