Avoiding chemicals in food

So how many people avoid dangerous chemicals in food, like using organic products, avoiding chemicals in foods?

For me I a use either organic milk or milk with no rbst harmones. I try to avoid things with corn syrup like I prefer Sierra mist instead of coke , no frozen cooked foods, I usually cook fresh and home food. I try not to use canned foods especially tomatoes or beans but sometimes it’s hard. I use green products to clean. Now a days I am really unsuccessful at not using microwave it’s hard.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

what does chemicals have to do with microwaves? :konfused:

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

foods are safe in US/Canada and the rest of the western world…it’s your prerogative to use organic foods. people get overly concern and cautious. you don’t have to panick…it’s safe! at least, that’s how i see things in perspective…our water is safe to drink as well. hai na?

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

I know it’s out of topic, but microwave create radioactive rays which can cause cancer, it’s better to avoid it but its hard.

Let me change the title.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

Cancer is so common and main reason is lot of chemicals.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

Az water is very bad too much calcium in it, you can see the white stuff in water, but Canad’s water is not bad. I don’t use organic produce much just milk because of rbst harmones.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

this is not true. microwave ovens produce non-ionizing waves. all they do is make certain kinds of molecules like water vibrate and produce heat. zero radioactivity.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

and what is bad about calcium in water?

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

Here is some topics for you to read, may be not radiation but lot f different things

Dangers of Microwave Radiation

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

that website is bs. you won’t find any scientific study supporting those claims. even cooking on a regular fire makes cancerous compounds. microwave ovens don’t brown foods, so technically they may be less carcinogenic.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

My mind must be out its chlorine and fluoride not calcium, I think.

Avoiding chemicals in food

For some reason, i want chai now after reading about organic milk!! Chalo main bana ker ayi!!! Personally I think everything is tainted so eating better means cook you own food. Its the only way you know what goes in but as for organic, i try when I can.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

Dude you are in for big surprise.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

UZ you can start growing your own food on very small scale.

If you have a back yard, or you can look into window gardening.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

its chroline in water that is not so good.

Even though there is no scientific claim but its common sense not to eat too much re-engineered and processed food.

Do your best. Organic meat and milk is a good start. Limit too much chemical use for cleaning products in your home. exercise.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

yep we prefer the local pasteurized milk (where we have seen the cow grazing on the grass :D) and use very lil chemicals in the cleaning products (preferably vinegar and baking soda since I got pregnant) but other than that we havent done much in terms of our food.. we still use ready to eat food and are working on limiting that intake too.

our biggest advantage is a year around farmers market.. probably we could get used to that more and it will make a difference to our diet!

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

Never cared. But then I have never been able to differentiate between organic/non organic cooked vegetables. Organic food is more costly anyway.

Frozen/ready to eat food/steamers tastes disgusting anyway.

Unless its Pakistani organic vegetables. yumm tinday

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

everythings a chemicallllll.

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

we only eats eggs from chicken that is vegetarian fed, i avoid anything that has too many chemicals, no frozen stuff, i try to cook from scratch. the only tins i have at home are baked beans, apart from that i do try the healthier options

Re: Avoiding chemicals in food

why chemistry professors do not care about organic food and bottle water?
