I am shocked to say the least hearing the prices of Pedicure, manicure, waxing in Canada. Middle east the most expensive pedi-mani was still cheaper than just the mani over here.
Just want to get an idea of what you guys pay for the following and how do you budget for it, I mean is it a monthly thing, every two months ??
Threading
Waxing
Manicure
Pedicure
Facial
Haircut
Also what do you do to be frugal in these areas ? I mean is every one doing these at home?
Back in the Middle east these were things that I would do once a month, and it would be my day off felt pampered and relaxed and it wasn’t too much on the pocket either. Here I am worried seeing all the high prices…
Manicure: 60 dhms
Pedicure : 60 dhms
Facial : 150 dhms
Haircut : 80 to 150 dhms it depends
till now its affordable manicure n pedicure n waxing once a month facial n haircut after every 3 months threading after 15 days :)
thts my routine :)
I do my own manicures, pedicures and facials. They are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO easy to do your own. I rent movies, get some really good takeout and make an evening out of it. You spend a bit of money on the products and tools you need in the beginning and then its smooth sailing.
I thread every 4-6 weeks if that much...wax every 2 months or so. Alhumdulillah...I don't have a lot of body hair.
Hair is the only thing I actually spend money on...I don't penny pinch there.
Ditto^ - i do my own mani/pedi/waxing/threading/facial. I SPEND money on haircuts..well used to..now i wear a hijab :/ BUT i do need to get a haircut! Oh how i miss my full fringe!!
Threading - £6, every 6 months or something, when I can be bothered to make a trip to the salon.
Waxing - No need, laser hurts like a dog but defo worth it. Used to do it at home though, made the wax meself and everything, sugar and lemon...cheap as chips!
Manicure -I bite my nails myself so no need to pay anyone to touch up my fingers.
Pedicure - only ever had one in my life, fish pedicures...erm about £20 for 15 mins once or twice a year.
Facial - The most I ever paid was £50, it was disgusting, I swear she touched me in places I didn't pay her to!
Haircut - Hmm..last one cost me £61, but average I spent is probably £40+, but only ever twice a year. I no likey getting my hair cut, I grow it all by myself, I aint letting no scissor happy ninny chop it all off!

Eyebrow threading: $12 (I do think once every 3-4 weeks; usually leave $3-$4 tip)
Facial: I haven't had a facial in almost 2 years. They're nice but I'm not sure they make THAT much of a difference in my face to justify the cost. I use Retin-A, Glycolic products, adn Vitamin C serum....all of which cost less than 1 single facial.
Waxing: I've never waxed. On my face, I use nair on upper lip (brows are waxed). I "invested" on laser hair removal a few years ago on most others "areas" and now only need to shave once a week or so to "keep up".
Haircut: I get a haircut and full highlights once every 4-5 months. This is my biggest "beauty expense". My bill is generally $220-$250 depending on how many colors she's using. I always leave her a 20% tip. In my opinion, she's worth every single penny. I don't take any chances with my hair.
Manicure/Pedicure: Again....total waste of $ in my opinion. I do mine at home. Over the last 1.5 years, I've managed to "collect" about 40 OPI polishes. I usually change my colors 1x/week. I know a local place that charges $25 for mani & pedi. I get it done "professionally" for special occassions....but the last time I had it "done" was over a year ago. Maybe its b/c I've already been doing it for so long...but these days...I don't see a huge difference between what the girls do....and how I can make my nails look on my own.
I live in the GTA and pay the following prices in Canadian dollars. The only thing that is a MUST for me is the threading, everything else I may get done at longer intervals. I get threading/waxing done at desi salons, the manicure/pedicure at the Asian nail places, and the facials and hair at the upscale spas/salons.
Threading (upper lip and eyebrows) - $6 *(done every 3-4 weeks)
Waxing (arms and half legs) - *$25 -(done every 6-8 weeks)
Manicure/Pedicure - $35 (maybe 3x a year)
Facial - $40 (once a year or less)
Haircut - $200-$250 - cut, colour, highlights and blow-dry (2-3x a year)
i pay $70 for waxing(arms+under arms, legs, full face, eyebrows) to a lady that does it at home. i go every 2-3 months. u can find ladies who do it for up to $50 too.
u can get good , sometimes actually gr8 deals at groupon, wagjag, social living, onespout etc for haircuts/highlights, pedi/mani, massages and laser hair removals
This is what I used to pay in the Middle East (in canadian dollars)
Threading : $6 (eyebrows only)
Waxing : $27 inclusive of underarms
Manicure + pedicure : $ 25 (free nail color)
Facial : $25
Haircut : $14 (including wash)
Blowdrying : $10-$14
The threading price is pretty high
Waxing seems about accurate according to what I find here...average is about $80-$100 for a full body wax
Mani/Pedi price is really high...average here is about $30
Haircut varies...the lowest I have seen is $15 and the highest is $50...depends on where you go
I used to do my own waxing at home, I guess in wax supplies (wax, strips, spatula's) I averaged about £5-£10 every time.
Since Laser and electrolysis I spend nothing. £5 a year on venus razors lol. I only need to shave the little hair I have left like every 4-6 weeks.
Don't do mani's or pedi's. I'm lucky in the nail department and I take care of my skin all the time anyway.
Never had a facial either. I take a lot of care of my skin and there's nothing a facial could do for me except pampering. If I needed it, I'd do something more aggressive anyway.
