Wedding are crazy expensive here. So glad I had my dream wedding...with almost everything I wanted...in Pakistan. I wouldn't have been able to afford that here.

It says average weddings- i believe those statistics should include desi weddings too.

It is, but it makes sense. You have a mehndi, sangeet, wedding/nikah, reception at hotels, and you rack up the venue costs quickly.
Then you have to add jewelry, dresses/outfits, presents, easily several thousand dollars.
i would say there are a lot of $50,000-100,000 weddings, but you're still looking at the median to be $100,000 in the US.

^ I think they're referring to one wedding ceremony and one reception. And if you only go by that for a desi wedding, then it is probably pretty accurate, no?

I find 50K to be a fair estimate (still don’t agree with it)
100K is not the average for desi weddings…its not that expensive to have a tasteful, elegant and classy affair in the US. I live in a big city and regularly attend weddings. If people are spending 100K…then I think I have a future as a budget wedding planner!

That data is not accurate as the Desi people are a minority by a long shot and therefore the statistics are skewed heavily. Therefore, I think Desi weddings in general will be a lot higher.
I agree with others on here. $50K seems are fair estimate.
