Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

For all the girls who have recently purchased their bridal lengha in the UK or have been window shopping… What are prices like at the moment? Can you recommend any particular areas/shops?

My budget is around £2,000 but obviously I don’t want to spend all of that if I don’t have to as this budget does not include my shoes, chooriyan etc.

I am looking for something that is tastefully decorated that won’t make me look like a christmas tree!

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Mongas in Southall is really popular I posted some pics of their outfits here: http://asianfashionblog.co.uk/2010/02/kiran-khan-and-mongas-at-london-asiana.html I visited them a few months ago and they had a good mixture of light to medium to heavily embroidered. Can’t be 100% sure of prices (cause I wasn’t looking for a bridal dress) but I’d say you’re looking at £1000+

Arinder Bhullar in leicester recently won an award for “best wedding collection designer”, again I’ve posted some pics of their designs on my blog - http://asianfashionblog.co.uk/2010/08/arinder-bhullar-wins-best-wedding.htmltheir designs are a lot less embroidered and even though I’ve not been in a ages, 2 years ago when I bought my bridal outfit from them I found their prices really reasonable and got good customer service.

Most of the shops to made-to-measure anyway so wherever you go they’ll be able to work to your budget/design!

Thank you fashion blogger just had a flick through but I will have a proper look through your blog soon :)

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Mongas has a sale at the moment and has bridal lenhngas reduced and start from a little as £499. Great if ur a size 12 or under. I was there yesterday.

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

AmorAmor, have you considered ordering from one of the pakistani designers, there are some well known names on facebook like nadyas visage etc.. they deliver to UK. That way you can maybe tell them what type of design you require and your budget.

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

I wouldn't buy from here if unless you have no choice. The dresses are way too expensive for what they are and I've never seen one I've liked yet. £1,500 is over 2 lakh which will get you a designer lengha from Pakistan.

And on the whole, don't assume it will be any different than ordering from/in Pakistan - if you're having a custom outfit, it will most likely arrive at the last minute.

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Thats my problem Stoppit - I can't really travel to Pakistan due to work commitments and in any case once I've paid for a plane ticket etc I will have spent any saving that would have been made by going to Pakistan to have something made.

I would order online, but don't think I could trust anyone online to make something of the standard I'm looking for, especially when so much money will be exchanging hands.

I never thought wedding shopping would be so stressful :(

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

I understand your frustration about trusting designers and exchanging money & all. Do you have any family with really good relations around Lahore or Karachi?
maybe you can send them money over or give designers deposits and rest when u’ve received your goods. I know most designers in Lahore that’d be willing to do that.
Theres a member on this forum and she has a facebook page took her names Nadya’s Visage she’s very reliable & has good feedback under the bazaar talk section.
I know her thorugh a friend living in Birmingham who ordered her mehndi gharara and nikkah lehnga from her. The best thing her work is 95% same as the orignal pic of d designer outfit u send her. this is her fb page http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=h#!/profile.php?id=100000282738626&ref=ts
If not have been around birmingham.. ladypool road has couple of good boutiques soho road has mainly indian bridal lehnga’s.

But then again i’ve gota agree with stoppit that boutiques here in UK charge so much for an outfit and you can get a better designer wear outfit from pakistan with a fraction of d price.

Good Luck anyway girl. x

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Daminis has a sale on atm, hard to believe but they have bridal lenghas in there for under a grand :) My SIL bought hers from some other shop in Green Street for £1200ish and my parents were surprised by how inexpensive that turned out to be..

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Birmingham has quite good variety! I was also on wedding dress hunt in Birmingham but later on I went to Pakistan for my wedding shopping.

Lady pool road n soho road have a lot bridal variety. And look out for Asian bridal shows, there quite helpful too. You can get amazing dress within your budget!

Good luck

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

i got my wedding lehnga from birmingham i had it ordered from india cost me £1,200

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Yup. Birmingham is a bit more affordable than London. The average lengha (I find) in London these days is around £2-3k and even upwards. If you're gonna spend that much, make sure it's worth it!

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Wedding outfits here are very overpriced, some of the outfits are worth half the asking price. If your budget is above £1500 I would really suggest getting it from a real designer, even Sana Safinaz do outfits in that range (approx 240,000 PKR). When I went to Birmingham last, the bridal outfits ranged between £1000 - £3000.

Re: Average price for a bridal lengha in the UK?

Any recommendations for Manchester? - we have:

1) Imani (they carry various designer brands) - maybe someone can inform the general prices.
2) Je Roche (sp?) wilmslow road
3) Alankar (Wilmslow Road)
4) Suhaag - Stockport Road
5) Brooj - Wilmslow Road
6) Head over Heels?
