Average commission rate?

Hello!

Could you guys please share your views about the amount of commission percentage that is considered “normal”?
Scenario: I asked an HBD to shop some stuff for me for around 11500 and I’ve been quoted a commission of 5K…which is almost close to 45%. All the shopping was from local markets only and not something designer or very exclusive…its just that I don’t have access to those fabrics here in my country and I wanted them shipped from Pakistan.

If you ask someone to buy something worth 100rs (not an example because I have bought/ordered stuff like special things for mehndi event,etc in this price range) ,do you expect to pay 10rs (10%) additional as commission for one/two trips a vendor made to get that item ?

commission should depend whether the item is just bought ready from the shops here (for example readymade gents' or ladies' suits,jewelry,etc)and shipped OR made from scratch (like outfits,etc). for the former case, I have observed HBD charging 500-800rs max. and for the latter one, it varies designer to designer.

Just buy from a store and send them, no stitching or any such task.

too much commission, I think a reasonable commission should be around 20%.

Negotiated to around 30%. I still feel its on the higher side but I made the person go to the market and chk out stuff exclusively for me to get pictures so that I can choose some stuff. And I did not want her effort to go waste and my need was genuine...I wasn't window shopping. Will need to be a better negotiator in future :)

^ that's a lot of hard work seriously knowing the fuel rates plus all the traffic jams and diversions everywhere ! 3000rs is legit.

Umer you here :D .. its a Home Based Designer, mostly GS ladies who shop for us or make custom cloths for us from Pakistan

I didn't know about those HBDs. Pretty cool idea though.
