Re: Avalanche in Pakistan
Astour, chitral, Complete Baltistaan,Murre, Guliyaat around murree recieved 11 to 15 ft of Snow fall in the last One week. There was snow fall in Mansehra, Abotabaad after some 10~15 years,. Many of the houses and building are damaged in Murree alone.
Flash floods death toll has reached around 150. There are lot of difficulties for people of these area.
Re: Avalanche in Pakistan
That's sad. It's not as if they had a shortage of problems to begin with.
Re: Avalanche in Pakistan
the condition is really bad in Balochistan, Sarhad, northern Punjab & AJK
There are bad floods in Balochistan, on top of that terrorists are wreaking havoc on utility pipelines...Right now there is no land link between Pasni and Karachi (Balochistan got most of its supplies from Karachi)...
People are in bad condition, their houses, fields, animals have been washed away and now they are left without food and clothing to shield them from the cold
In Northern Punjab, AJK & Sarhad too there have been very heavy rainfalls and snowfall and people are without food supplies, gas and electricity in many areas...
there is no contact with some areas (not even fone etc) so we don't even know how the residents of certain villages etc in these areas are doing...
Pak Govt with the help of the armed forces is trying to provide relief but since the land routes are not avlbl (either been damaged or filled with snow) all help needs to be supplied thru aircrafts which is a much slower process...
may Allah swt have His mercy on the affected people
Re: Avalanche in Pakistan
Are they going to do a fund raiser for these poor folks?
I saw JJ was on last night on Prime TV doing one for the tsunami victims. It would have been better if he was taking donations for the flood victims as well.
Re: Avalanche in Pakistan
Rb i think at this point the problem is not that we r lacking funds [and thank God for that] but the issue is that we can't even get help to the affected ppl b/c the only way to provide help is by air since land routes have been damaged or filled with snow...and the weather is still very bad for that, i mean for helicopters and aircrafts to fly in frequently...thats my understanding of the situation from the news...
Re: Avalanche in Pakistan
^ Yes it is the main problem. There is no shortage of supplies. Land links have been cutt off And communication is big problem for the northen and western part of the country. Country has not seen this much snowfall in decades. And rainfall is pretty un-ussaul for Blochistan.
As for the other part of the country, this rainfall is a blessing. There were less rains and less snowfall for many years and rivers and damn were drying up.
Re: Avalanche in Pakistan
^ thanks guys!
I was watching Geo the other day and they were interviewing ppl who were stuck between to flooded areas. They were saying how they were starving and cold and I did not understand why the Geo guys were interviewing them but not giving them anything to eat or anything warm to wear.
I guess we don't have enough helicopters to drop the supplies to the affected areas.
Or maybe Mushy will get the army involved and drop food for ppl.
