It is what T-pain uses to produce that “twist” in his voice. I believe that one song from Jaane tu Jaane na used it also.
That’s how things go in the music world. Someone in US/UK will develop a new style, it will become really popular, and then 2 years later it will be the biggest thing in Bollywood. Kind of like the echoes of 90s dance music which can still be found in Bollywood music today.
