Authentic Pakistani Restaurant in San Francisco.....

Does anyone know of any very very authentic Pakistani(read Lahori) restaurant in san francisco area? One of my friends is dying for Lahori karahi chicken and I cann’t find a good enough place to have that desi Lahori experience…Please help me.

Damn it is only 8:30am and I am already hungry for dinner…

The only authentic restaurant that I know in SF area has got to be the one that I have yet to eat at (i.e., Chann’s house, with garma-garm rooti and Karahi Chicken made by our Bharjai).

Chan ji, i have posed your question to my e-mail list of all the folks who live/work in san fran area... if i get a response by today..then i'll post it here for u... but i cannot verify if any of them are any good or if in fact they are what u are looking for.

ok that was quick...i got one reply so far..

here it is:

Try Shalimar at the corner of Jones and O'Farrell in San Fran. Best Lahori
food in town. The restaurant is kind of in a bad area though...right next
to a massage parlor..

if more come..i'll add to this okay.

Shalimar... you wont regret it.. as authentic as Lahori can get. but make
sure you go to Shalimar... the hole in the wall place.. and not Shalimar
Gardens (their upscale version) which costs more and you lose the Lahori

ambiance!

here is another one..

Try Kabana on University Ave in Berkeley (right off I580)

but really everyone is replying that this shalimar place is really really good..

Thanks a lot Amber....I heard about Shalimar a lot too and your e-mails kind of re-enforce that.....so we will try that. Unless or untill someone else comes up with another suggestion:)

hayaa ji..I am listening I am listening… I hope we can do that sometime… in fact we will some day soon.

I am coming to TO during Christmas vacation(about 10-12 days) and from what I have heard about Lahore Tikka shop,…I am planning to gain at least 15 lbs in 10 days

As for my buddy/…he misses Lahori khana too much. According to him closest it came to was in TO. Let us see if he likes Shalimar or not. and if he does not I am sure he will make big hoo haa about it here on GhuppShupp
