Re: Australian team in crisis: Watson leaves tour after Australia axe four
I think the coach will be gone soon. This is ridiculous.
But it could be that Clarke, the drama queen, is the main problem here.
Mickey Arthur is not exempt from blame but he was also the coach of the SA Cricket team which has an even more complex dressing room environment. As far as I remember, he never asked them to write emails to him or do power point presentations. This unfortunate saga has Clarke written all over it
And look at Clarke's justification in the video above. He sounds more like a CEO coming up with his managerial justification BS

Seems like Michael Clarke's crossed the thin line between being passionate and paranoid. The task itself wasn't too odd actually, its the severe punishment for non compliance that's an absolute joke. You don't just suspend 4 of your squad members on a tough tour like this for such a small thing. This is a men's sport ffs, far worse has happened within squads for years but players would always manage to put their individual differences aside for the sake of the team.** Clarke's being too desperate here to defend this lame saga with Aussie patriotism crap to be honest, just look at the comments of their ex greats and all of them are ridiculing this. I don't see any of them relating this stance of Clarke to the typical Aussie cricketing culture. **

For one i dont care a damn about Australian Cricket. If they wish to make themselves the laughing stock of World Cricket which is so sad considering how invincible they were from 1999-2008 then so be it. But if Clarke talks bs about players not respecting the captain and the head coach then the captain and the head coach has no right to disrespect and talk crap about the players in public. **I dont think anyone has given any statements against the captain, coach in the public prior to this episode and even after this episode. I would have sued Clarke and Arthur for wrongful dismissal and character assasination. There is no precedent for a player to write a powerpoint presentation to the coach anywhere.
This big talk of acting tough, team work, rules, discipline is not going to get the Aussies anywhere. They just do not have the talent to be no 1 anywhere and they aren't being men enough to face up to that reality. **

**Why were the players only asked once to complete the 'three point' homework? It was as if they were setting them up to forget. **Kind of like they wanted to punish them and set an example.
Way to win a team over.

They were set to fail really. I am sure Watson was the intended target of this whole exercise - the rest were just collateral damage. Looks better that way too. No singling out anyone and easier to justify.
Plus easy targets for the series blame. No one will come after the captain and the coach for the series loss.
The best result is the rest of the players are scared and play well. Worse off they blame these trouble makers for the unrest.
Brilliant actually.
