Due to incredibly packed up schedule, I havent been able to follow it completely but yesterday over-animated Hewitt was beaten in four sets by his new nemesis Chela. Federer, after a hiccup last week against Tommy haas in invitational tourney has been cruising thus far. Last year winner Marat Safin is out injured.
And in women my old favourite Hingis has returned. She wont do well first up though. Women tennis is a lot more physical since she left.
^ LoL! I kinda agree. Maria sharapova is quite a lady and Danielle is behind but not far.
Roddick has been ousted by Baghdatis and Federer marches on. He has beaten Haas as well (who beat him just fornight ago) so another possible title looms for Federer.
Hingis has been slated to meet Clistjers after advancing. Quite a come back thus far.
Clijsters defeated Hingis in a tough match and thus proceeded to the final. I wanted a dream final in Hingis-Sharapova but never mind.
Grosejan was beaten by German Kiefer in an epic five setter and Federer advanced as usual but not without hiccups. Kiefer is an underdog to advance to finals.
I think Justine Henin Hardene will win the Aussie open. Sharapova is good but Henin uses her backhand ' the best in the game' very well, she has a better all around game and her ability to dictate play will be a deciding factor.
I hope Nalbandion wins the Aussie open. He for me can challenge Roger Federer better than Baghdatis, who's just had an unbelievable open. Nalbandion can return serve well and play a better game from the baseline, and I hope he tires Federer out with long rallies.
wow...what a match there.
marcos baghdatis, the greek cyprot claims another top 10 guy. this guy has been the find of the AO 2006. nadal was the big find of 2005 and baghdatis looks set to be the one for 2006.
he's beaten radek stepanek, andy roddick(2nd seed), ivan ljubicic(7th seed) and now david nalbandian(4th seed). amazing!
federer has his work cut out for him in te final. marcos baghdatis wont be a pushover by any meaNS.
Baghdatis has for sure been a revelation in this aussie open. The way he has surpassed Roddick and nalbandian is exceptional. I back him to beat Federer but Federer is the toughest nut on the block. Go Baghdatis go!!
Sharapova lost :( Henin Hardenne will win it yet again after missing last year through injury.
Roger was never going to lose. He has the best allround all surface game I have ever seen. Great on the net, at the baseline, backhand is solid, forehand is ace. Uses the entire court well, returns serve brilliantly.
He's class.
You'd back him to surpass Pete's Grand Slam record, and soon.
