Its so good to observe that its not only our players who are treated badly by their boards.
Simon Katich, one of the most consistent performers in aussie team during their decline has NOT been offered a contract by aussie selectors. And the reason is that they want to blood youngsters for the ashes in 2013. While Ponting and Hussey have been retained. What stupidity. I used to think its only our boards its only our board/selectors THAT stupid.
Understandably Katich has gone on to lash at selectors backed by ex players and even political figures..
Re: Australian Cricket Selectors Tamasha: Katich dropped
Michael Bevan?
Micheal Bevan was dropped because there were replacements (Micheal Hussey) and the team was doing well. They could afford to do that. But there are no replacements for Katich and team is not successful. It is hard to fathom this decision.
Re: Australian Cricket Selectors Tamasha: Katich dropped
Australia is down in the dumps as well having lost their glory. But they are not as wasted as the Pakistan team these days. So I actually would agree with ACB that they want to blood youngsters.
But the question for them is that who will play the anchor role in the test and ODI innings? Perhaps they feel Hussey and Watson will be able to do it.
P.S. Saby ...no one can equal Ijaz Butt and PCB except maybe West indies... ;)
Re: Australian Cricket Selectors Tamasha: Katich dropped
Maybe they should have persisted with him for a year or so but Katich is almost 36. He is no Hayden or Langer and Australia are understandably looking to the future (read Ashes 2013…that’s all they care about)
Only time will tell whether Osman Khawaja can cut it at international level but Aussies do have Phillip Hughes who has had some success as a test opener. Hughes and Watson will most likely open in the short-term
