Guys who have posted above make it seem as though Aussies were outplayed in this match. They friggin scored 435 and lost by 1 damn wicket. Plus, in my opinion, setting a 400+ target requires more character than chasing it down (when you really have nothing to lose since for all practical purposes you have already lost the game - like it was in SA's case)
And need I elaborate the quality of the following players who for different reasons did not feature in this match : -McGrath -Warne -Hayden -Langer -Gillespie -Kasprowiscz and more....
This is a problem of plenty my friends....they even have a second Gilchrist in Hadin. How's that for Bench Strength !!
off this list only McGrath is a genuine miss, Warne has already said bye-bye ODIs the others were deemed as less effective vs the playing XI by Aussies own board/captain which goes to show that those players have weakened as well. Langer doesn't play ODIs as well. Gillespie's balloon lost its air some time ago.

A thought for those who think AUS did not have their best bowlers in the match....RSA did not have Pollock, presently the number 1 bowler and all-rounder of ODI's.
If Pollock played, the match might not have reached the scores it did. He proved that together with Ntini he could ensure a slow start and AUS might never have posted the huge score they did, RSA would never have felt that there is no pressure on them, and we would never have witnessed the best ODI ever. Thank Pollock for being injured....
