For the record this was Ponting’s 36th test win as captain which puts him in (joint) second place in the all-time list with Clive Lloyd. Steve Waugh leads the board with 41 wins as captain. Notice it has taken Waugh and Ponting so fewer games, only 50 odd to achieve all that.

I would like to see what Ponting’s W/L record is, post McGrath/Warne/Gilchrist era. The stats show as 4.5 collectively. But recent stats would be different, I’d reckon.
