It comes down to everyone's interpretation of "recognised" here, you will have to look at tradition/culture of the time when this verse was revealed.

For obvious reasons, half naked women are less of a security problem than someone (man or woman) who could potentially be hiding weapons in a burqa. All the aussies are asking is that the burqa be removed if necessary for security reasons. If that's a problem stay indoors all the time in your burqa, the aussies won't care.
LOL...so when rural muslim males suggest the very same (i.e. stay indoors), it's opression...when done in the name of security, it's fair. Nice to be able to make the rules....

funny it was not security issue previously all of a sudden muslim women are security issue maybe if your politicians stop initiating wars and killing people in poor countries and inflicting death and destruction you would not be having so called security issue.

If you had actually read the article, you would know that Australia is not trying to prevent women from wearing a burqa. It is asking that the veil be removed if required for identification/security reasons. What is the problem with that? Keeping aside the religious aspect - if I wear a mask and try to enter an airplane, I WILL be stopped and asked to remove it and identify myself. If you want to live in a society, you have to follow its rules, otherwise find yourself a society where the rules are better suited to your tastes!

Get over it. The Burqa is a relatively new garment to Australia and as immigration is increasing from Muslim countries so is the Burqa.
If women really are that bothered about wearing the Burqa stay at home!
Even in Pakistan Muslim Men will order you to remove the face cover when they need to security check you! If youdo not obey you will not be moving anywhere!
Why do some so called strict Muslims behave as if everyone wants to have sex all the time? I see many faces and believe me I have not wanted to have sex with anyone just because I saw their face!

Lived in Arab/Muslim world, trust me, that is the only thing Arab/Muslim men have in their minds, they look at women as sex-object and they are not ready to see beyond it, for them it is same as having sex when they talk or look at the women...

this is a very poor excuse how many people actually wear the burqa in australia 0.01% ? this is heavy handed response against the muslim community as the article stated.

You will feel rather stupid if anyone among those small number actually try to conceal a weapon, bomb etc under.their burka. In this day and age, security is a priority. You cant blame anyone for being suspicious of someone in an all enveloping body suit. Better safe then sorry.And like it or not, its Australia, not Pakistan. If u cant play by their rules, go back to ur muslim home. If Muslim countries can be justified in forcing their standards on minorities, so can secular nonmuslim countries. Atleast in the later case, such standards are understandable.

Is this the reason muslim women cover? if person is muslim we have islamic code of how to dress and we look to islam for the rules not our own biased opinions or choice!
i just commented on another article where a person walked into a store and shot 3 people 2 of them dead he wasn't wearing a burqa this security excuse is hyperbole.

Nobody is claiming that EVERY person who has a gun conceals it in a burqa. As I said in my post above, it’s not just about a burqa, but any person whose identity cannot be verified will be stopped and questioned, when matters of security are concerned.

What ur ignoring is the fact that the burka is a security threat. The taliban will have won the day someone concealing something under their burka manages to kill people with it.

Again, if you had bothered to read the article you would know that the government is not telling women what they can or cannot wear. There is no ban on wearing a burqa, just a requirement that it be removed if required for security reasons.
