Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

^^^ Why are you blaming bowlers? Bowlers can bowl, but for result, bowlers depend on others (Captain and fielders). Pakistan have babays as Captain and fielders, so how can bowlers perform?

Have you seen ball going through, in between Misbah’s leg? It seems, Misbah was doing split yoga, but that also gives answer to why Pakistani bowlers are giving so many runs.

Have you seen Younis reaction when catch came in slip, it seems Younis was playing statue. He did not even reacted as the ball left towards him from the bat. When Younis reacted, it was already too late. Shows, why Pakistani bowlers are not taking wickets.

Sami, Babar, Azhar and few others also showed they lack a lot when it comes to fielding and holding catches.

So, do not expect miracles from bowlers when they have no cooperation on field.

As for batting: Pakistan have 6 players in team as batsmen. Till now, they were Sami, Azhar, Younis, Misbah, Babar and Asad. In this match, it would be Sharjeel instead of Sami. It is these batsmen who should contribute most. As for contribution of other players, that should be considered as bonus. What happened in reality?

First test:

Sarfraz contributed 83 runs @ 83 runs per inning.
Asad contributed 139 runs @ 69 runs per inning.
Azhar contributed 76 runs @ 38 runs per inning.
Amir contributed 69 runs @ 35 runs per inning
Younis contributed 65 runs @ 33 runs per inning.
Sami contributed 37 runs @ 19 runs per inning
Yasir contributd 34 @ 17 runs per inning
Babar contributed 33 runs @ 17 runs per inning
Wahab contributed 31 runs @ 16 runs per inning
Misbah contributed 9 runs @ 5 runs per inning
Rahat contributed 5 runs @ 3 runs per inning

So, you can see that top contribution per inning was from wicket keeper, when it should have been one in team as batsman. Unfortunately, only two players contributed on average over 40 runs per inning (Sarfraz and Asad).

On the other hand, you can see that Amir contributed similar to Azhar and Younis, while Yasir and Wahab contributed similar to Sami and Babar. Misbah was complete failure.

Second Test:

Azhar contributed 248 runs @ 248 runs per inning,
Sohail contributed 75 runs @ 75 runs per inning
Asad contributed 66 runs @ 33 runs per inning
Sarfraz contributed 53 runs @ 27 runs per inning
Younis contributed 45 runs @ 23 runs per inning
Amir contributed 40 runs @ 20 runs per inning
Babar contributed 26 runs @ 13 runs per inning
Sami contributed 11 runs @ 6 runs per inning
Misbah contributed 11 runs :@ 6 runs per inning
Wahab contributed 1 run @ 1 runs per inning
Yasir contributed 0 runs @ 0 runs per inning

So, you can see that even though top 6 players were playing in team as batsman, still … what about contribution?

First test: First and fourth contribution of runs per inning was not playing in team as batsman.
Second test: Second, fourth and sixth contribution of runs per inning was not playing in team as batsman.

Actually, only three batsmen contributed reasonably. They were Azhar, Asad and Sarfraz.

Younis contribution was not satisfactory.

Three batsmen, Sami, Babar and especially Misbah failed. Misbah was big failure.

Now, how can a team could compete with such failed batting line-up … and … with pathetic fielding and catch holding ability?

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

It woukd have been nice to see percentage of runs contributed by each player based in own teams runs and total runs for both teams.

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

you guys are worried about Yasir, Wahab … I am worried about Amir not doing anything like Amir of past :bummer:

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

At least oil was down today. Take some comfort.

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

Day 2 Aus 538/8 Dec

Pakistan 126/2

Azhar 58 NO
Younis 64 NO

Taking into account the warm up match Azhar so far has scored 487 runs on this tour. :k:

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

In the three tests so far Azhar has scored 378 runs and is still batting in this match. The only other batsmen to score more than him in Australia in a series was Mohsin Khan in 83/84 series with a total of 390 runs. Azhar needs a further 13 runs to surpass his record . Hopefully he will do it tomorrow.

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

If Younis manages to get to his hundred, he will have a test century in every test playing nation

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

Azhar needs to increase his run scoring rate, he is not partnering with any aggressive batsman on the other side so his SR of 15-20 is really bad, it just adds to pressure overall on the team when you play 100 balls and only score 15-23 runs, should rotate strike more.

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

Didnt saw this match! Is Pakistan already in shyt hole or i need to make a prediction here…

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

Again…

Is it going to make a new low ?

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

Azhar is a classic player. He can make runs to make a team lose. For instance, in coming ODI, strategy of Australian Captain could be to have defensive bowling and fielding when Azhar is batting and make sure that he does not get out … tell all fielders to drop any catch Azhar offers, and tell bowlers that not to ball straight on wickets (so that Azhar do not get bowled), neither appeal for LBW. As Azhar plays, he would leave most balls for wicket keeper, and would score on average 1 or 2 runs per over (at most).

In this way, Australia can make sure that Pakistan total stays below 200 runs however fast other batsmen play, as Azhar would make sure to block 30 plus overs for maybe 60 odd runs, and with him on the wicket, other batsmen would play slow too (probably making 80 to 100 in remaining 20 odd overs they would face). Thus, Australia would succeed in restricting Pakistan within 150 to 200 runs (in 50 overs).

This way, Azhar would be happy with 50 plus score, fans of Azhar would crow too pointing out that Azhar made 50 and Australia would be happy too keeping Pakistan within 200 runs in 50 overs and thus winning the match. Loser would be only Pakistan.

Anyhow … whatever one say or believe, I have to admit that Azhar did batted much better than other tuk-tuk masters (Sami, Misbah and Younis) of Pakistani team.

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

What is there to make prediction? Its so easy. Anyone can project that current pair of batsmen will score double centuries, next 4 will score hundreds and next two will make fifties. Pak will declare after 1000+ runs and Australia will get out by 140 runs and Aussies will lose by more than a inning. Thats all :sunnyboy:

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

I doubt it. If it does, will buy some more oil stocks.

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

Tremendous fighting spirit shown by our boys today. No wickets down, and few hours have gone by.

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

:konfused::konfused: pass me whatever you are smoking

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

YK another 100 . But misbah got out cheap .
YK only player to score 100 in 11 countries. That is difficult to be broken as even PK batters arenot able to score test century at PK any more ( no test cricket in PK )

Sorry I forgot who opened the thread :hehe:

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Sydney

Well played Younis but Pak facing certain defeat. The deficit is just too great.
