Pakistan’s on-off Test series against Australia is in the balance yet again, after doubts were raised about the safety of Sharjah, the venue for the second and third matches.
John Buchanan, Australia’s coach, admitted that Sharjah’s proximity to Iraq had caused one or two concerns among his players, with the likelihood of US attacks growing by the day.
“There has been some talk on this,” said Buchanan. “It all boils down to the advice we get from the Australian Cricket Board [ACB]. If they say it’s fine to go, we’ll go there and play. I don’t think we’ll be sent to places if the ACB think we’ll be in danger.”
Even though the United Arab Emirates is considered a safe place, the Australians are concerned as to how they would leave the region in the event of war.
But the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which has not yet been told of the players’ fears, is unlikely to take kindly to any moves to reschedule the series again.
The PCB claims it has lost more than $US20million in sponsorship deals since the war in Afghanistan. Their ongoing border tensions with India have added to the general unease.
This is ridiculous, they are avoiding Pakistan on every chance they get, do they know Pakistan is missing their 4 key players and yet still trying to back down.
Didn't Australia, Westindies, Pakistan, India play a triangular tournament around the time of Dessert Storm.

The Australians are quite right to fear Sharjah. With poodle Blair joining in with Bush to attack Iraq he might just take the opportunity to bomb the Australians in sharjah, so that Hussein and his team can win the ashes in winter. That is the only way they will win the ashes. :)
Did you know what he said when he was asked before the elections as to who it was that declared a military coup in Pakistan? He answered, “oh, I know that one, thats general gaddafi!!!” hahaha
