Australia A vs Pakistan A

Re: Australia A vs Pakistan A

runs banatai, kartai… its same, but in case of Taufeeq or others it should be “ho gaye” :hehe:

Re: Australia A vs Pakistan A

Guru sahib, Shahid Nazir got injured after being hit on the toe by Aussie bowler, he went to the hospital for scans and came back after being cleared.

I hate to see Shoaib Malik opening, he is average(in TESTS) in subcontinent and useless outside Pakistan but if you think of it, Hameed (the fisherman), Taufeeq, Farhat etc have done NOTHING to claim an opening spot (even Butt has been just OK) and Malik can NOT do any worse than all of them and then he can bowl as well (English weakness), so it might not be a bad idea to give him a chance.

Afridi doesn’t wanna OPEN now so he might have to sit out otherwise we will have to drop Asim Kamal.

Re: Australia A vs Pakistan A

With Afridi’s recent test performances, I doubt they will drop him specially on home ground where afridi is more likely to click. Neither they can afford to drop younis, kamal or razaak. With all these players in, there is no slot for malik. It will be a good option to try someone like younis or kamal as an opener along with a regular opener like butt.

Re: Australia A vs Pakistan A

Array fartguru sahib, kahan ghoom rahe ho? First off, domestic experience doesn’t mean jack. The very fact that players like Muhammad Khalil, Muhammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat are the cream of the crop, speaks volume about our standards. This isn’t Australian or England county level we are talking about.

Secondly, our ageing dinosaurs as you put it, Younis Khan is younger than Misbah and Shahid Nazir! Not only is he a few years younger but he has PLENTY of international experience. Asim Kamal is 29 and he has already delivered many times on the big stage. Inzi and Yoyo’s records speak for themselves. What have these 30 year old newbies done for Pakistan? The very fact that they are not in the team highlights their failure on the international stage. By the time they have as much experience as our “dinosaurs” they will be getting ready to collect their pension!

Re: Australia A vs Pakistan A

It's not a bad idea to open with Younis Khan, he does OPEN unofficially MOST of the times anyway.

Re: Australia A vs Pakistan A

Khan Sahib,
Its the same domestic circuit which gave us the likes of Akram, Waqar, Inzi so on and so on. Every country has to put faith in their domestic talent thats the only way we can expect to have a decent crop of players ready to replace any ageing or out of form current players. According to your thesis we cannot or should not judge players based on their domestic performance cause its not worth it, well then if thats the case then we are at the mercy of some miracle player or continue to beat the same crop of players who have managed to slip into the national squad. I do not subscribe to that viewpoint, players must be treated as any other professional network where performance is the measure of selection not international experience which in many cases has proven to be ‘jack’ when it really matters.

As for the age factor, well Khan sahib like I said Waqar is still in his early thirties and Inzi is just 35…means jack bro…look at the performance, Misbah has led Faislabad twice to the patrons trophy finals, winners in 2003 and runnersup in 2004. Shahid Nazir has been the top bowler on Pakistani tracks. His recent performance against Australia-A should alleviate some of your concerns. You have a point regarding their age, but then again PCB should capitalize on the best available talent before its expiry date. Taking a product off the shelf because its approaching expiry sometime in the next few years doesnt sound fair.

Shukria Bhai…

Re: Australia A vs Pakistan A

As for why Shahid Nazir only bowled 4 oversd in the second innings… it was coz he was hit on the toe while batting and was taken to the hospital for x-rays. when he came back, everything was ok and he only got to bowl 4 overs in all as the Aussies were about t go down by that time :crying:
