Re: Aus v india, second test

Tendulkar with his 49th Test ton.

No doubt the greatest run producer we'll ever see. With tests dwindling, he will remain the holder of all the batting records.

Re: Aus v india, second test

India replying strongly 224/2 @ Lunch on Day 3

Tendulkar 106*, his 49th test ton. Remember he has 46 ODI hundreds as well!
Vijay 73*
Partnership 186*

This is Tendulkar’s 11th test hundred against Australia and his 6th ton in 2010, a new indian record for most hundreds in a calendar year. Yousuf holds the record with 9 test hundreds in 2006.

Re: Aus v india, second test

target has got to be 400 which is held by Lara.

Re: Aus v india, second test

I sort of want that record to be untouched. Lara was a fantastic batsman but has no records left really. Sachin or Sehwag have taken over all from him I believe. I wish the 400 remains as his legacy.

Realistically I feel Sehwag has a better chance of getting the 400 than Sachin.

Re: Aus v india, second test

btw India play another 5 tests this year. 3 against NZ in Nov and 2 against South Africa in December

So can Sachin 1194 runs* (in 9 tests @ 99.50 in 2010) eclipse Yousuf’s record aggregate of 1788 runs in 2006?

Re: Aus v india, second test

Asif 1788 might be pushing it a little bit.. its possible but I wouldn't say very likely.

Just like Lara with 400.. I'd be happy to let Yusuf keep that record! Great batsman in his time. Deserves 1 record at least.

Re: Aus v india, second test

^ I think his 1st target should be 300. 400 is still a fair distance away. Tendulkar is one of the few modern day greats who has yet to score a triple hundred!

1788-1194 = 594 runs

594 runs in 5.5 tests (or 9-11 innings) is a more realistic target than 400 in a single innings

Re: Aus v india, second test

Asif you're right. Yusufs record is well in sight.

Re: Aus v india, second test

So India r fav to win this one too :D

Re: Aus v india, second test

India 495 all out
Aus 94/3

Re: Aus v india, second test

who says test match cricket is boring????

Re: Aus v india, second test

At stumps Aus 202/74, a lead of 185 runs.

A fascinating day of play ahead.

Re: Aus v india, second test

Well it all depends how long the last 3 Aussie tail-enders can last on day 5. If indian bowlers can finish them off in 45min to an hour, a target of say 220-225 should be quite gettable in 5 hours

The pitch is turning but Hauritz is no Warne or Murali. That being said the highest total successfully chased @ Bangalore is 194. So does that also mean the Aussies have a fair chance of winning here

interesting 5th day's play in prospect

cricinfo:
Madhu: "The highest target chased in Bangalore has been 194 by Australia against India in 1998. India chased 151 against New Zealand in 1995 successfully."
Only on four previous occasions have Australia successfully defended a target below 200 in away Tests. The last time they did it was in 1992 against Sri Lanka in Colombo when they defended 180. The other three wins came before 1910."
