Deccan is a very big peninsular region, It was not in complete control of India in 1947 even. It was mostly under control of Bijapur empire and later Nizam but never both of them ruled entire Deccan. Hyderabad, was intially under control of French before Brits took over. Aurangzeb was never able rule deccan. Poona was part of Bijapur empire and Shivaji fought against both Bijapur and Agra in his time, though under command of Peshwas, they decimated both Mughals and Bijapur empire
