When will it be that the Pakistanis will open their eyes!!
The world around us is progressing at a very fast pace , look at China and look very closely at India, our neighbour, a stable country on its way to achieve glory.
And look at our country run by the military junta, wit a patch work of corrupt politicians in between. We have achieved basically nothing. Firing a missile or two now and then, do not show any progress that we have made in the industry or science and technology.
The tragedy of Pakistan is that rich are the ones who own land in Pakistan and the rest have virtually nothing, after the military personnel have occupied rest in the allotments of land to themselves. The land owning Jagirdars have no interest in science and technology, they infact all against it, opening of schools will only drive away slave children away from their lands, so they are not interested in our masses becoming literate. The same goes for the military rulers; their offspring is basically spoiled and live a life that of Sahab with black money dripping from it. Some of them do go West for the so called higher education, paid by the government, but they are not interested in science and technology either, they rather study art and rest of the rubbish and keep girl friends and spend their nights drunk, like their parents. Typical example is that of our leader of the nation, president Musaharf, the chief of staff of armed forces of Muslim Pakistan, drunk every night, having good time with his girl friend or two and then the next morning a shower and a crisp military uniform, hand open for bheek for few dollars more from his masters in the Whitehouse and another day goes by. Killing few of our own, dispatching few to gallows having claimed them to be the Talibans, then the business as usual, few more jams of whisky with his general and time passes by, keeping his firm grip on the chair of power, come what may….I’ll never let it go! Just like the general before him and the one to come….
Then look at the masses in Pakistan, they are not interested in educating themselves either. They yearn to go to Dubai, where they think they can make fortune and no education is needed for that.
Look at the Pakistani cricket team, tell me how many of them can speak English!! And then compare them with their counterpart in the Indian cricket team.
There is a nice way of putting that in Urdu, aur shrum hum kou nahin aati.
How many of us have actually heard about Iqabl or read him, if we did then we would not have been in this mess as we are now a days. Who knows what Shaheen stands for what is the meaning of Joush, Arzou Tumuna, gurmi-e-khoune, or revolution or who cares about the sky and the reaching beyond the stars…not us…not us….definitely not us.
When will they wake up, when will they open their eyes, when will it be that will pakistanis (small ‘p’) feel some shame and make a better world for themselves. I have no answer… and do not think that they ever will…
