Re: aunty je/unkil jee
when ur 18 and they are in their 30 or 40
To sum it up, in islam they say that bharon ki izat kerni chaaeay. so if you think someone is older than you then do call them what they are being needed to called.
Re: aunty je/unkil jee
I hardly call anyone aunty or uncle anymore (other than my real aunts and uncles)
Re: aunty je/unkil jee
I have cousins who are 10 (maybe less than 10) years older than me.....and when they have kids of their own.....they'll refer to you (especially if you're not married) as "beta".......which they never did before. Anyone else notice that? I've also seen people outside of family do that.
Re: aunty je/unkil jee

Re: aunty je/unkil jee
My mom calls her friends’ moms “auntie”, but no one else. Any older social acquaintance is “appa” at the most.
I still call the older generation “auntie.”
But don’t you dare call me that. ![]()

Re: aunty je/unkil jee

haha I know. My cousin called me beta once and I was like WTH is wrong with you baji? lol. The thing is that there are so many kids in the joint family she lives with she's gotten used to calling everyone beta.
Anyway, I hate the word 'unkill'. I don't think anyone pronounces it that way here, that's more like indian accent.
