Could the colour you wear guarantee you a first kiss with your date? (Picture: Getty Images) If you’re off on a hot date this weekend and are deliberating what to wear, new research shows that men are most likely to form relationships with women who wear red on a first date.
And for the guys, dig out something grey as women find this colour most appealing on you.
The survey polled a total of 1,128 female and 1,232 male adults from around the UK, all of whom were currently in relationships.
It looked at how clothing choices affect levels of attraction and which colours were most likely to catch someone’s eye.

Respondents were asked if they still remembered the outfit that their partner was wearing the first time they met them? A whopping 92 per cent said they did. So it seems first impressions really do count.**
In the survey 69 per cent of men and 64 per cent of women admitted what colour their date was wearing had an impact on how much they were attracted to them.
In fact, if their date wore a colour they didn’t like 38 per cent of women and 27 per cent said it would have put them off.
‘Whilst it may well be considered fickle to base the odds of a second date with someone on the colour they choose to wear upon an initial meeting, the fact is that we make our primary assessments of potential partners extremely quickly,’ says George Charles from VoucherCodesPro.co.uk. ‘It is human nature to want to find faults and imperfections within these individuals in order to protect ourselves from hurt later down the road. It therefore makes sense that before you really get to know someone, fashion sense, and in particular, clothing colour choice, is one of the first things the brain will notice and evaluate for later analysis of a rendezvous’
