Attention Doctors

guys, i’m having some serious issues

Been going on for years, and I keep asking doctors and waste my money with it, because no one knows what’s going on.

Ok, so I can’t sleep well. I wake up, feeling more tired than when I went to bed, although I am getting 8 hrs. I wake up, feeling out of breath. I take a deep breath, and I feel my lungs opening up as if they haven’t been used in a decade. With a couple of breaths, I’m feeling better, but exhausted, so I end up falling asleep again. Doesn’t work out too well when you gotta be up and going to work.

I sleep better without the pillow. With a high pillow, its worse. Except that the problem still exists now even without the pillow.

I have post-nasal drip, which might have something to do with it. When I take Clarithin, my sinuses clear up, I sleep better, and I wake up energized. Of course, it makes my heart beat faster.

I dont know. I’m not fat, but I get the sense that somehow with a pillow, my trachea gets compressed as I sleep. Just a little.

Either way, I think I’m having trouble moving air when I sleep.

:frowning:

Re: Attention Doctors

PCG, I'm not a doc but my first thought was also sleep apnea. What happens is that your trachea closes and you actually stop breathing. Your body then wakes you up - maybe not fully but enough to get you breathing again. This means that you never or only rarely go into REM sleep which is the deep level of sleep that you need in order to wake up feeling refreshed. Most hospitals have sleep labs now and if they diagnose sleep apnea and you have insurance, they would cover the cost of the test and of the machine that helps correct the problem. Theres also lots of over-the-counter products for sleep apnea but you should really look into the sleep lab test first.

Good luck and happy dreams!

Re: Attention Doctors

My brother and another person we know suffers from this.
They both use the machine and are fine with it. Without it they can't get any rest.
