Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s Letter To
President Mirza, 1958

The following letter was written by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to President Iskander
Mirza
while Bhutto was in Geneva to chair the Pakistan delegation to the United
Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea in early 1958.

Bhutto was just thirty year old and rather young for such an appointment. It was
thought that he was chosen due to his extraordinary intelligence, brilliant
credentials as a lawyer and boon companionship with President Mirza,
strengthened by their hunting expeditions on Bhutto’s family lands in Larkana,
Sindh.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s letter to President Mirza, 1958
April, 1958

H.E. Major-General Iskander Mirza,
President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,
Karachi, Pakistan.

My dear Sir,
`
Only a few lines to let you know that I am discharging my responsibilities here
to the best of my ability. I shall give you a detailed report of my work on my
return to Pakistan and I am sure you will be satisfied with the manner in which
I have done my humble best to serve the interests of my Country and my
President.

I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you of my imperishable and
devoted loyalty to you. Exactly four months before the death of my late Father,
he had advised me to remain steadfastly loyal to you as you were “not an
individual but an institution”. For the greater good of my own Country, I feel
that your services to Pakistan are indispensable. When the history of our
Country is written by objective historians, your name will be placed even before
that of Mr. Jinnah. Sir, I say this because I mean it and not because
you are the President of my Country.

If I have the conviction and the courage to enter into a dispute with a Prime
Minister, I do not think I could be found guilty of the charge of flattery.

If you and the Begum Sahiba require anything from here, please do not hesitate
to order me for it.

With profoundest respects both to you and to the Begum Sahiba,

Yours sincerely,
(Zulfikar Ali Bhutto)

I attach hereto text of my Statements made on the 17th and 25th
of March, 1958 respectively.

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

to kia karayn hum iss letter ka? :smack:

What is the authencity of this letter

LOL, exactly

These desperate and jealous haters will try any pathtic attempt, yet PPP remains the biggest party in the country, time and time again

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

I can't state with 100% accuracy but Bhutto had written a well known and unabashed apologetic/grovelling thank you letter to Iskandier Mirza for appointing him a Minister..although he swiftly abandoned Mirza afterwards to side with Ayub Kha. Cowasjee has quoted the letter in a few articles.

It's alleged Bhutto used his persian connections via his wife to approach Mirzas wife to get the job..

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

Sahahab Nama describes how Zulfi was introduced by Mirza to Sahahab when Mirza asked Shahab Karachi Night Life is all alone wth Zulfi. Then Zulfi came to Presidential Library to search some books but actually he wanted to get into Pak Foreign Ministry and atlast did it in HIS DADDY Ayub period, played drama of Tashqant that Ayub made secret deal with India which was 100% wrong , gain popularity in Pak masses and atlast won 1971 elections

DAWN - Cowasjee Corner; 21 April, 2002

found the link…

P.s: I disagree with the implication that ZAB was the only one to use flattery to achieve sucess as a politician. Ayub Khan did the same..Mirza and Ghulam Mohammed just stole power through manipulation. And Zia and Musharrafs flattery to their respective bosses (ZAB and NS) are well known..in the formers case almost legendary

Very interesting letter! Sorry to say but how stupid the other person is, to believe on all that buttering! :hula:

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

But later Zulfi turned out to be awami leader post 1971

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

As I mentioned...

The Man Who Stooped to Conquer
Mehdi Hasan September 8, 1998

Gen. Zia was a master in the art of seeking favors from the right quarters, someone who did not mind stooping low in his attempt to conquer hearts. Ministers in ZA Bhutto's cabinet used to narrate an incident when during a break at a meeting a few drops of tea trickled from the cup on to prime minister's shoes. Gen. Zia quickly took a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the shoe clean. According to another story, when Prime Minister Bhutto appointed him as the army chief, General Zia, on his own, called for a copy of the Quran and pledged his allegiance to the prime minister.

Zia didn't do this purely out of courtesy: he was careful that his good acts were properly registered.

**A Karachi-based interior decorator narrates how he was assigned to renovate Mr. Bhutto's residence in Ghar Khuda Baksh in the 1970s and how he came across Gen. Zia there. He says that one evening he went to the family graveyard of the Bhutto's to offer fateha, to be followed there a few minutes later by Zia. The general also offered fateha and the started to dust the grave of Bhutto's father, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto, with a broom. On enquiry, he said, he respected Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto like his own father and it was an honor for him to sweep his grave.

The interior decorator was impressed - until the general requested him to narrate the episode to Mr. Bhutto whenever he got the opportunity.**

ZAB must have been smoking something when he wrote that letter. Putting Iskander Mirza (whose era was marked by extreme political instability - Pakistan had four different Prime Ministers in two years) above Jinnah is laughable .

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

A question to all of you, why does it matter what a dead guy said to another dead guy 50 years ago?

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

Something about a nose and the colour brown come to mind.

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto

Anyone read the Fox and the leopard? Zia, even after having Bhutto under house arrest would tell him 'Sir you will be the PM again and I will be saluting you soon'.

Aww you still stand by your statement? BTW, what has PPP (or any other party for that matter) achieved for the country? So for all these crooks have lined up to fill their own pockets. As for ZAB, he was an opportunist politician who was product of military junta himself. You cant expect much from people coming out of such systems.

Not surprising at all. Lets face it Pakistans leaders, elite have always had their heads up someones a***. Brown nosing has always been a way of climbing the ladder and if anyone of you wants to get far, take some tips front his page (jkg).

We have all known how spineless and opportunistic the elite can be within Pakistan but how authentic are these sources? Other than "he said, she said" is there anything to confirm it?

If I read the letter by ZAB I would assume its a rather old-fashioned style of writing letters not necessarily brown nosing. Today we would not even think of writing like that but 100 years ago it was different right?
of course when he calls him an institution and placed before Jinnah, thats downright brown nosing.

the Real Deal - being the biggest party is nothing to be proud of when you have a thug/thief as a leader. Plus you'd lose a lot of votes if the feudal Seraiki and Sindhi belt was allowed to vote how they deemed fit.

Regarding this letter:
As the great grand son of Iskander Mirza, the original letter is with Humayun Mirza son of Iskander Mirza in Washington D.C. this letter has been coppied from his book: From Plassey to Pakistan.
Zulfiqar Bhutto never abondand Iskander Mirza, he was in constant contact with my family. Yahya was the one whom abondand him.
Even Benazir was in contact with my family and I stay firmly in support of the PPP under Zulfiqar Bhutto's ideology.
Long live the memory and sipirit of Mr Bhutto and Bibi.
Humayun Mirza Jr.

Re: Attention Bhutto admirers - A Rare Letter By Bhutto
