What is your opinion about slow cooker?
If I put rice and some kind of meat in it, at same time, would it just cook it ??

It would be a good idea to Marinate the meat first, hyderabadi biryani is made in the same manner.
Rice and meat is cooked together on slow heat.

Isnt the rice going to get cooked quickly than the meat?

Yeah slow cooker and pressure cooker are two different things.
Pressure cooker cooks fast whereas slow cooker cooks slow

hmmmm i always thought slow cookers were for stews, soups and chillis.........dont know wht it would do to the texture of rice---my guess is that after being in liquid too long--the rice would get tooo fat.....

I read wiki it say , you use different method.
We don't use water for the reason you just mention.
I think its going to by little oil and thats it.

No, you can make rice into them. Just make sure you don't remove the lid too much or the food won't cook properly. And yeah mostly food doesn't burns into a slow cooker.

Well then don't soak the rice. If you soak the rice, they will cook way before the meat and might get too soft. You would want to make sure that cooking time of the rice is somewhat same as that of the meat. It also depends on what kind of meat you are using. Red meat takes more time to cook then chicken. Maybe try it first with chicken and see how it works.

Not if you do it properly.
Marinate the meat overnight and to the marinade add lemon juice which will tenderize the meat so it cooks faster.
If you are using beef, use small thin strips so it cooks faster or get it cut into steak pieces and have the butcher beat it with a hammer to make it thin.
Layer the meat at the bottom and the rice on the top so the steam rising from the meat cooks the rice, dont add water to the mixture. Let the steam cook. If you add water it'll all turn soggy.
Dont remove the lid during the process otherwise the steam will escape.
Try cooking a small quantity first.
Dont soak the rice before cooking, add unsoaked rice.

As long as you marinate, like adra said, you should be fine.
I have made DELICIOUS stews in the slow cooker. YUM.

it'll work ...i usually brown the meat before putting it in though.
