Society girl-turned-activist Jemima Khan is recovering from an early morning robbery scare when she was forced to flee a balaclava-clad knifeman who broke into her Fulham home. As a bodyguard fought off the intruder, the 28-year-old mother of two took refuge with her children in a bedroom, barricading the door with furniture.
The 4:40am attack apparently came as Jemima and her small boys, Qasim, three, and five-year-old Suleiman, were sleeping upstairs in the £1.5 million home.
“The noise made getting access woke a security man working for Jemima who tackled the burglar,” said a source. “He suffered a scratch from the raider’s finger but was able to press a panic alarm which alerted the house and neighbours.”
The robber then fled the scene, but reportedly left empty-handed.
Neighbour Paul Daley witnessed the commotion. “I heard all the screaming and shouting in the street,” he says. “There were men and women screaming and it sounded like a heck of a struggle.”
The wife of Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan hasn’t commented publicly, but a friend revealed the family’s state of mind. “Everyone is understandably very shaken, but Jemima and the children are unharmed,” says the insider. “The only injury was to the bodyguard who was treated later. Thank goodness he was there at the time otherwise God knows what might have happened.”
