MASTUNG: A car bomb attack on buses carrying Shia pilgrims to Iran killed 19 people and injured 25 in Mastung on Sunday, officials said.

The remotely-triggered bomb hit a convoy of three buses in Mastung district and set one of them ablaze, said Tufail Baluch, a senior government official in the district.

“At least 19 people have been killed and 25 injured. All of them were Shia pilgrims,” he told AFP, adding most of those killed were burnt to death.

“The bomb was planted in a car. The condition of some of the injured is critical,” Baluch said.

Some 180 Shia pilgrims were on their way to Iran in the buses when the bomb ripped through one of them, said Akbar Hussain Durrani, a senior government official in Quetta.

Another mindless and soulless act of barbarism by cold-blooded brutes. Matter-of-factly speaking, I would nominate the state of Pakistan for this epic tragedy as responsibility of protection lies with the state. I wish the chief executive of the country is named in an FIR for these murders because be it Karachi or Mastung, the writ of the government has been turned into a laughing stock by these monkeys yet it does not ring any bell in the corridors of power. This is the height of dumbness .

The state is losing its writ with each passing day. May Allah give the government and military vision to take decisions to reverse this trend otherwise we are on a steep downward trajectory.

Re: Attack on Shia pilgrim buses kills 19

In official meetings or on a cup of tea, how do generals react to news like this? Do they say it’s not our job? :bummer:

Well, it is not their job. But GHQ, Mehran, Kamra and Peshawar Airport are their job. Did they do anything for that?

Re: Attack on Shia pilgrim buses kills 19

Re: Attack on Shia pilgrim buses kills 19

It really hit me today that the Indian PM was on airport to receive the body of that girl who died after the rape and here a senior minister dies at the hands of pigs and the president and PM were no where to be seen. pathetic to say the least. We need a govt not chawals siting in president and PM house only than will things improve.

Re: Attack on Shia pilgrim buses kills 19

Well the president is content in his bunkered presidential palace. Thousands of people have died in the war on terror in the past few years, but he hasnt considered it prudent enough to visit Balochistan or FATA to have a first hand knowledge of the situation. Leave aside the government, even PMLN (being the so called opposition) is no where in the scene. Although in a democracy it should be the opposition forcing the government to take corrective actions.

Inna lillahe wa inna ilayhi raajiyoon.

The government has bigger issues to deal with, like youtube. :/

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the escalating violence, especially the continuing targeting of religions minorities, U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky said.

“These cruel acts of violence cannot be justified by any cause or grievance,” Ban’s spokesman said. “Their perpetrators should be brought to justice.”

The secretary-general stressed the U.N.'s solidarity and support for the government and people of Pakistan and “their efforts to defend their country’s institutions and freedoms in the face of the scourge of terrorism,” Nesirky said.

I know right? Whatever anyone's thoughts on that issue, I hope we can all agree that events like this deserve protests and marches more than a video on YouTube.
