Sorry not interested to see, what Shias say about the Sahabas (RA). They are responsible for their deeds but thats not a justification to kill them.

you dont seem to get the similarity between the 2. saying shia kafir(i dont know if they said this or not in the start) justifies killing or justifies qualified condemnation but abusing sahbaha and ummahat ul momineen does not.

i am surprised that no one is blaming the law enforcement agencies where the blame is due.

-why were they NOT better prepared and better equipped?
-why the police was a quiet spectator after their arms were snatched and, moments later, used to kill?
-why wasn’t there a backup force available?
-why there was no communication due to mobile service switched off?
-why were the rescue team and the fire brigade NOT allowed to come to the scene and take charge of the scene of violence?

and above all, why is media so quiet about it? no live coverage, the kinda coverage they have from elsewhere there is bomb/shooting incidents take place?

these questions must be asked and answered by the authorities.

What I find odd is that we have debates on these issues every time something bad happens, but one no one asking is why is this happening? A country that was founded to Muslims...than why are Muslims killing each other? What went wrong? And more importantly, what is being d one to fix it? Why are we not have honest self reflection? What is the underlying cause for all this?

The bitter truth is negative aspects of deen are more dearer to people in our part of the world. We didn't inherit Mustafa's (SAW) traits of being Rehmat lil Aalameen and forgiveness for those who once remained blood thirsty enemies, we inherited 1400 old enmities which are surrounded by historical inaccuracies. In Iqbal's world 'Lahoo garm rakhne ka bahana to chahiye'.

Anyone remember media coverage given to Boulton Market incident on Yum e Aashoor in Karachi few years back for a similar incident? It was covered for weeks.

I have already said that who ever was the aggressor yesterday is condemnable. I cannot judge on the information I have so far, the media coverage is in front of every one.

and we remain divided - we cant even condemn an act of violence without taking sides!

what happened was really unfortunate, and if its true that Shias really instigated this, then it's really sad, as it goes against the teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW Grandson and what he stood for. It just defeated the purpose of this procession then. On the other hand, it is also very much possible that folks in madressah initiated this, Shias claimed people from these madressah raised yazeedi naras and started aerial fighting, and police didn't intervene. not that it justifies what happened!

and also, as many of us are aware, many of LEJ terrorists plots were foiled right before 9th and 10th of muharram across Pakistan. so it could be pre-planned as well, perhaps, riot/burning of shops was not done by sunnis/shias but rather by people associated with these banned outfits.

However, having said all this, It shouldn't have escalated to this extent. I completely hold our law enforcement responsible for not intervening and defusing the situation sooner.

No sectarian bias from myself, at the end of the day all of this happened due to clash of two molvis. One inside the mosque and another one leading the jaloos.

Fair enough, if you're a religions person who believes in theory or magic, but big elephant in the room is religion in politics. Pakistan was a tolerant country until 70s when people lived together w/o bloodshed. What has changed since then?

Law enforcers have their own religious biases for/against their own particular sects just like rest of the society. They are not neutral arbiter of law.
