Re: Atta crisis deepens as country faces famine like situation
well you are right, but not exactly about the balance,.
as middle class in pakistan has grown from 10 million to 30 million, which means lower class is converting into middle class, and middle class into upper class.
as for problems of the poor, they definatly are facing problems no one is denying that, but its only a short term problem, and pakistan economic booom has come from a bankrutp and failed economy and it will take time for the trickle down effect.
its all a slow process which i have been trying to explain to pakpatriot but he doesnt understand eocnomics.
It said 50 percent of the population have remained where thery were...
25 percent of the rich have gotten richer.... 25 percent of the poor have gotten even poorer...
So who besides the already rich have actually seen any improvement?

has middle class not grown?
to actully see the improvement you need to go to the villages yourself, they have been electrifed, water resources are avilble there, for the first time motocycles are being bought by villagers, mud houses have converted into brick houses, income has increased etc.
even today why do you think pmlq remains hugly popular in villages?
it cause of a massive change seen there
i told you last time come to me and i will take you to some villages and show you how they have transformed

I have gone to the villages... Was there not to long ago... And everyone was complaining of soaring inflation... I have seen mud houses converted to brick but thats only because these people had money coming in from family abroad...
Besides the few who have relatives outside the country, most of the poor are still poor.. This is in Punjab and the Military heart of Chakwal
In Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP the situation is even worse...

what kind of excuse is that, its not only people with familys abroad who have converted mud houses to brick, otherwise half of pakistan will be living abroad so be abit relistic, its all due to increase wealth of everyone due to increase in salerys and business oppertunitys made for the people.
Re: Atta crisis deepens as country faces famine like situation
Pak Patriot How can the situation get better in your opinion?
What other way foward is there... Musharaf should step down, all parties should take part in free and fair elections, the Chief Justice should be reinstated and all bans on media lifted...
Might not be smooth sailing, but thats all that can be done at this point...

Well, I dont know anyone whos converted their house into brick unless they have relatives someplace outside...
What jobs are available to villagers besides agriculture? And we all know agriculture hasnt grown as fast as it should...
The fact that half of Pakistan isnt living abroad is the reason why more people dont have brick houses... Because they cant afford it.
By the way, we had electricity in my village way back in 1983... But then we also have many people in the army so that helped.

I see. What would be the fate of "Jihadis" as they call it, under the Democratic Government in your opinion?

there have been tons of houses not just converted into brick but new ones made is well, tons and tons of them you cant deny that, and its not just that look at motorcycles sales, which for the first time are being bought by villagers, and no these arnt bought by the rich or by pakistani living abroad, look at honda atlas, they has sales of way under 100,000 motorcycles in 1999, and in 2007 there sold 600,000 and expected to sell 800,000 in 2008, who is buying these? they are obviously lower and middle class people.
cell phones is another thing not even 1000 people had them in 1999 today 70 million do, again people are buying them, look at sales of daily commodities like sugar, atta, pulses etc. they have more then doubled in the last 8 years, atta and sugar factories were bankrupt as well as many other industries in 1999 today they are running at 100% capacity.
it shows that people are spending more money then ever, as they have more wealth then ever before.
well there are jobs availble to villagers, most would work in agriculture and even though there are problems in it, its in a much better position then it was in 1999. then many would travel out to work in factories and many make alot of money from livestock musharrafs 'white revolution - doodh darya' project is turning out to be a major success.
and on electricty its common knolagde that under 10% villages in punjab had electricty, today nearly all of them have been powered.

... you are quite funny sometime.. So you mean only people outside of Pakistan has their house bricked...? Classy ..I wonder what will you say about "construction all over Pakistan" ..
What is the education level of villagers ? how they can even apply for jobs.
Solution: Don't talk about politics, leave mushi as he is.
Re: Atta crisis deepens as country faces famine like situation
480 rs for 20 kg.. in India..
I think u missed the bigger fact. There is shortages of atta in the country. People will pay even if its rs 1000 for 20 Kgs b/c they don't have choice.
