Why won’t AT&T provide the unlock code for BB Bold 9000. It must be possible because there are people charging to unlock it. You’d think that if you’re a current ATT customer of over 5 years, currently have a data plan with an iDevice, they’d have no problem accomodating the request to unlock a second AT&T branded BB to be used as spare or when traveling.
So what are my options? How can I unlock this thing without paying? Can I unlock it myself? How?
Re: ATT/Blackberry bold 9000 not eligible for unlock?
You can call AT&T again and try requesting a unlocking code for free again but if not then you can buy an unlocking code online for $3-7 and unlock it your self.
Re: ATT/Blackberry bold 9000 not eligible for unlock?
AT&T unlocking iphones is not AT&T doing the unlocking. ATT is just acting as the intermediary. It was Apple’s decision to do the unlocking so those devices become more open in the open market and thereby the price would go up a bit. BB can’t even seem to walk a straight line, i don’t think they’d be thinking about unlocking a few phones.
But all that is besides the point Teggy. The main fact is that you’re using a Blackberry? Shame on you!
Re: ATT/Blackberry bold 9000 not eligible for unlock?
Technically, it’s not my blackberry. I got it to send overseas. I’m very content with my iDevice.
PS: I got the unlock courtesy of a website I cannot name. But they do offer free 1 time unlocks/per device. Submitted my request with IMEI number yesterday, got the unlock code today. Good deal!
Re: ATT/Blackberry bold 9000 not eligible for unlock?
That’s very true. When I contacted AT&T to unlock my Blackberry phone they told me the same thing . So,I got unlock code from an online site called SimpleUnlocking.com for a price and unlocked my Blackberry. I don’t know why the Blackberry is not providing unlock solutions even when the service providers are ready to unlock their customer’s phones.
