Muzaffarnagar: Union Minister for Social Justice Meira Kumar on Monday alleged rise in atrocities against Dalits in Uttar Pradesh and accused the State
Government of not doing anything about it.
Expressing deep concern over the rise in atrocities against Dalits in the State at a press conference here, the Union Minister alleged that despite regular directions from her ministry to do something about it the BSP government is yet to respond.
Ms. Kumar, who was here to unveil a statue of her late father and former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram, said the Centre has decided to build hostels for Scheduled Caste girls in every district besides having identified 143 districts to open schools for them.
