Atkins Diet

Has any one tried it? I want to lose 10 pounds atleast, although i am in my normal BMI range but still i feel the need to shed some pounds. Atkins because its good for PCOS (being a low carb diet). Any success stories or suggestions?

Re: Atkins Diet

After going through tons of low carb hi protein type of diets, and all the hundreds of others that promise and do deliver the instant 10 lbs off in a few days type of diets, I am now a firm believer that the only diet that really works longterm is eating well balanced low fat meals to maintain weight loss. Working out is what makes you feel good.

Just by eliminating junk food, excess sugars and extra servings, you can achieve your goal pretty smoothly and change your lifestyle.

Re: Atkins Diet

I have Pcos and I did Atkins, it worked wonders on me, I kept the weight off for nearly 2 years, it was quite difficult to get the hang of in the first few days but got a lot easier after that. The best bit about it was it also helped changed my eating habits, my love for carbs was very much controlled.

Although I try to follow a healthy and well balanced diet now, I still do the 3 day Atkins if I feel I need to shift weight quickly.

Re: Atkins Diet

What is the 3 day Atkins?

Re: Atkins Diet

What do u eat during the 3 day atkins diet? Or even a normal atkins diet? I did it so long ago I can't even remember what I used to eat.

Re: Atkins Diet

Sorry, have been away for the weekend!! basically the 3 days diet is exactly the same as the original, when i first did the diet it was for 2 weeks, and i remember it saying that after you had done the diet for 2 weeks and wished to lose weight at a later stage to go back on it but only for 3 days.

I find that even with 3 days, it helps you get back into the discipline of cutting out unhealthy carbs. I know for a fact that Carbs are the reason why i pile the weight on, and I have tried all the diets you can think of (weight watchers, slimmers world, slim fast, cambridge, and loads more i cant even remember now) but i find this is the only one that truly helps me shift the weight.

Like i have said before, i really try to follow a well balanced diet now, and eat as healthy as possible, have really cut my sugar intake, upped my veggies, drink loads of water, black tea, lentils, brown bread etc etc, but with PCOS i pile it on so quick its unreal and im not exactly what you would call FAT in the first place :bummer:

Re: Atkins Diet

Just protien, same as what they recommend during the 2 week phase, but if you check out thier website now they now advise that you can incorporate carbs into your diet much sooner as long as you are excersizing at the same time to burn that carb off.

Re: Atkins Diet
