Atkins Diet

Has anyone tried it?? I did it, and you lose weight but as soon as you go back to carbs the weight comes back :frowning:

I met one of my friends today, who I haven't met for nearly a year. During that time, he's lost 10kg on the Atkins diet and maintained that.

He says what you need to do is slowly reintroduce carbs into your diet, and at the carb intake volume where you no longer lose or gain weight, you have found the carb intake volume that you should attempt to maintain.

Ok someone PLZ PLZ give me a plan of what you have to eat everyday..I’d really appreciate it…if I don’t lose weight fast…I’m gona need a new wardrobe :bummer:

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPppp

and my roomie has been doing serious atkins stuff for 4-5 months now.. she lost 40lbs in 4 months. lekin u have to becareful when u start eating carbs again iss liay i dont believe in totally eliminating it from ur diet…
its tough to do when ur a desy anyway. hehe

i try to watch what i eat... but those desi food.. too fatening...

however i noticed a hugee difference jus by cuttin out sugar, and bread an cheese...
i eaat lite bread n fat free cheese an i use splenda.. it helped..

apparently the atkins is not very safe, just what i heard.

I halfed my body weight about 6 years ago with the Atkins diet and have so far kept it off. Although these days I don't follow it as strictly as before, just follow a generally low carb diet.

Lastknightess, its hard to follow Atkins with desi foods. When I was on the diet and went home in the holidays I used to survive on huge plates of shami kebabs (meat and lentils)

Shahreen i don't eat desi food at all...

I've tried it, the craving for the carbo thing is so great it's nearly unbearable, for me at least, if you follow it according to the diet specifications, you should be fine, it reintroduces carbohydrates gradually. So it should be good, if followed correctly.

lastknightess, check your pm and all will be revealed. If you don't eat desi food than you've got more options.

hiccup, its tough at the beginning - not just the cravings for bread and chips but the constant headaches. But it does all pass.

well about two years ago I wanted to start the Atkins diet and I consulted my mother about it (shes a doctor) and according to her atkins is not entirely safe...they restrict the amount of carbs u can eat which is fine (at least to a certain level) but it tells u to eat proteins and fats at such a high level that it can be damaging to ur body...

so what I did was instead of following atkins i just reduced the amount of carbs i ate while keeping my protein and fat intake at a reasonable level...combined with exercise this makes a big difference!

In January this year I discovered that I was diabetic (wasn't overly surprised cuz that runs in my family, although it was a little too early). So had a whole discussion with a neutritionist. She said to limit the carb intake to 2-3 carbs a meal (each carb is about 15 grams of corbohydrate). I lost about 15 lbs in 2-2.5 mths and i've managed to keep it off. I have a whole little booklet on this thing, and a list of what has how many carbs (e.g. sugar 1 tbsp = 1 carb). I'm going to scan it and see if i can post it somewhere here.

yea ive heard its not too safe in the long run so dont eliminate carbs completely.
im not following any plan, and dont know of any, lekin if u do cook for urself then make stir fry veggies(mushrooms, peppers, brocolli, onion, snow peas, green beans, carrots… anything!) with chicken or any other meats. its really yummy… u can add ur own desy spices to it and then when its done just add some sourcream and u got urself a mexican style dinner. its pretty good…

if anyone wants to lose weight they should stop complaining and 4get abt it (LK!!) just quit eating food ALL the time and thinking of ure stomach, eventually the poor bag of muscle will shrink to a very diminutive size and ull stop feeling too hungry :D

This has to be better than the all liquid diet that I’m having now…self torture..maybe I’ll get some paryers answered along with it :k:

liquid diet? are u insane? ur just asking for more trouble u know…
skip a rope or do lunges when u get home, or just anything, something…

Like I said..i need soem prayers answered...besides i read about a soup diet somewhere...

You mean the infamous Cabbage Soup diet? Its only really for very short term, like if you have a special ocassion coming up. And cooking the soup stinks the whole house out.

Hmm..well rite now..living on coffeee, tea, hot chocolate, water and a cup a soup for iftar :k:
