atif's aankhon ke saagar - cum - aadat

atif aslam - aankhon ke saagar

he seems to have sung aankon ke saagar better than shafqat himself.

just my opinion. so dont storm off a whole debate who’s better.
the part i like is when he fuses aadat’s alaaps into the song. that’s the part that rocks! gives me the goosebumps

If its the casual live performance at UET hall then its atleast 8 months old.

Having said Aatif is an talented artist, but he didn't sing it better than Shafqat. If you know Shafqat's control of voice, Aatif is miles behind him when it comes to classical. Go listen to Rangon mein from Aatif and you would know what I am talking about.

I would have to go with smooth on this one. Plus, its live, you cant really compare it to a studio recorded track anyways.

but ishtillllllll

its nice. and i m not a atif fan but…i must say…

:k:

audios ins't that clear so it's hard to judge

I never liked the fuzon vocalist's voice. Nothing special about it though he has amzing skills at doin all those complex raags and stuff....

^ sure not a bubble gum voice. after all he hails from a patayala gharana, not from a burger family to have a lovey dovey cute voice. But when it comes to singing ability he knocks out most of the singers in pop circuit including Sajjad Ali and Ahmed Jahanzeb. The Aalaap at the beginning of Aankhon ke Saghar and the song Khamaj are master piece and cannot be challenged by any artist.

^ so true...

So you need to be from a "burger" family to have a "lovey dovey cute" voice.... that's very interesting, indeed. But like i said, he's really good at the raags and all...as a singer he's fully trained to be one.

I remember driving back with Junoon once (salman ahmed and john alec), and had 'ankhoon ka sagar' on, and salman was singing along. John asked about the vocalist, and said 'this guy is an amazing vocalist, i need to listen to his album', and trust me, John Alec fazool kisi ki tareef nahee karta, Shafqat is amazing.

yeahh .. shafqat is good .. amazing ability and control over his voice .. examples are khamaj n few other songs from fuzon`z album ..

here is a question

does the control and range make a voice a good voice for a particular song?

a hypothetical example

one guy has a naturally pleasing voice, but does not have very good range or control.
other guy has good range and control but the voice itself is okay.

is it not possible that for some type of songs where the range and control are not that critical, the quality of voice itself may make the song more pleasing from guy1 rather than guy 2?

I would say that this is entirely possible.

a real example- depeche mode, although martin gore can not match up dave Gahanin terms of the controla nd range that dave has, if you have been to their concerts and seen gore do a unplugged solo on question of lust, you may agree that he sang that song better than dave did, even though dave is a far superior singer.
