at the airport ...

Re: at the airport ...

Flights from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan or the UK are very interesting. As soon as the women get on the plane, off come the abayas and the headscarves.

Re: at the airport …

It’s bad but not as bad as Bangladesh Biman lol, the one and only time we flew with them (cos they’re now the only airline who said they fly to Dhaka non-stop since British Airways stopped their non-stop service) they were over 12hrs late back and even tho we booked and obviously paid for business class there was no actual business class on that particular plane (which they didn’t even tell us about till the day before so we changed our flight).. No choice of food, no entertainment and a 12-hour wait at the airport with the idiot ground staff lying to us and pretending that that the flight was just a couple of hours late then each time it came close to boarding time we would find out it would be just a ‘little longer.’ Business lounges locked in the airport and toilets with penises drawn on the wall.. Oh, and they also lied about the flight being non-stop, it stopped in Dubai (so there was no actual point in flying with them in the first place :frusty:)..

Have read Heathrow wanted to ban them from landing there at one point.. wish they had done..

Re: at the airport ...

This is a parody..

Re: at the airport ...

The crowd i've met both while flying PAK-EU and vice versa (with PIA) ... is really not the classiest. It's rare that i'd see one or two decent people. On the way back from Pakistan though, I've seen lots of fat women dressed in super tight western clothes and in pinching gulabi-gold makeup. That really makes me nervous. One time at Schipol airport, there was an apology announcement about the flight's delay .. this was during the snowstorm of jan 2010 .. and everybody got up to make a line. I was like ... what just happened??!?!

I thought PIA was bad, until i once took an AirBlue to Dubai back in 2008. Damn, That was absolute horror! Only if I'd known. Although the same airline when coming back to Pak was like a 180 degrees difference ... better aircraft, better air-hostesses, better crowd.

But this time around, when going to Pak with PIA, the airline was shear disappointment from the moment i was waiting for the check-in gate to open. One, they were 15 minutes late, and in their snail-speed they finally sat down on their seats after turning whatever lights and signs on. Two, It took them 1.5 hours (as everybody stood in line waiting) to figure out their (apparently new) software ... it was such a piss off ... alongwith with this french hippie family who out of nowhere just stood in front of me when standing in line for final immigration exit .... that all this somehow made me lose my travel document. Luckily i was all checked in, and only got to know about it once we had a stopover an hour later. Now the amsterdam airport was responsible enough to find that and message it to my flight in process plus sent an sms to my mother in pakistan. When i reached home, i called that person, thanked him, and was told that i have nothing to worry about, once i am back, he'd be waiting for me outside the aircraft door with my document. So then i was relaxed. But of course, nothing goes smoothly in Pakistan. When i was checking in, i was told i cant fly until i have that card with me. And i was like WTF! had i known u guys are going to be such #$%#$%# ... i would've arranged for it, but i was told it's no problem. It took them 3 hours to finally clear me, getting affirmation at every point, calling here and there, confirming again and again. reading the email sent by the AMS airport AGAIN, and then AGAIN. Gettin it signed from god knows who ... and even then they were like, "ok, i trust you, i will let you go through on my behalf" ... i wanted to stab him! And as expected, I had no problem at my arrival, as the guy said (who was the manager of PIA flights in amsterdam) .. he was literally waiting outside the aircraft door for me, and had his arrival already announced in the aircraft before the door officially opened.

Anyway .. i think ... even with all this madness, nothing is more suicidal than Islamabad airport. It's like a chicken barn. My husband was in absolute shock. People just kept crossing him, eventhough he was standing in line. I had to myself go and push him through the line, teaching him how to make out alive when surrounded by such retarded people. It's a nightmare.

Re: at the airport …

Yeah is it me or do the outbound flights from Heathrow seem more cheesy compared to the inbound ones…:hehe:

The Plane on the way back is almost always newer than the one you boarded to Pakistan… :omg:

Re: at the airport …

i am not getting something here?

Re: at the airport …

They do that because they want to get all the space in the overhead bin as they can. Ok no offense to families but I really loathe most of them. They usually have one child, and loads of overstuffed luggage for them and u know its not even all the kids stuff, its the parents crap…they get to take advantage of the bacha with the luggage

I travelled via PIA last year and had a decent experience. No problems thank goodness, except okay so when they announced its time to board I waited on line like a normal person…I went in and put my bag in the overhead compartment.

A few minutes later this uncle comes by and takes my bag out I thought he was going to put his and put mine back so I didn’t say anything.

THEN he says that he’s goin to put it in another compartment like way in the back of hte plane, I was like HELL NO! I started yelling at him that he has no right to touch my bag and put it back. Well short of shaking my neck and snapping my fingers I went full on Shaniqua on him. I got here in time, he didn’t, that’s not my problem. Well another uncle who was standing there just put both our bags there without a problem and was liek “u 2 are arguing over nothing” :hehe: Whatever, Im glad I didn’t just let him do whatever he wanted :vivo:

Otherwise the flight was okay. It was full but somehow the two seats next to me were empty. That would have been so awesome except the air hostess wanted me to move and let some other uncle sit down. she was like, “aap please move ho jain” but i was like…no…and when I said no, she gave me the weirdest look as if to say “How rude are you!” :rotfl: I like my aisle seat, i paid for an aisle seat and I’m not moving. he sat in the window seat but he was very nice in that he got up only once  so its all good. Later on she kept coming by saying that she’s fighting for me or something? cz the annoying uncle from behind wanted my seat but she said no. and im like…uhh, thank you for not giving up my seat to this a-hole?

Okay so then when we landed in pakistan, one of hte porters helped me get to the proper line, well when I got to the line (families/ladies line), this aunty behind me was like "NAHIIII AAP GHALAT LINE MEIN HO! AAP KO USS LINE MEIN JANA CHAIYE!–the line for foreign passports which was like twice as long as the line I was in. I nervously looked around for a porter and showed him my passport and stuff and he said i’m in teh right line. Ok so then I’m finally getting closer to the counter and that aunty is still yelling at me to move to the other line and pushing! I had to ask her a few times to BACK OFF but she wouldn’t…God knows why I didn’t slap her  when I finally got ot the counter I was literally shoved off to the side and she slammed her docs down on the counter.

The flight back was less eventful oh and there were some pretty cute (male) flight attendants who were super nice.

Re: at the airport …

maiN bhii nahiiN samjhaa…looks like Faris’ plane gets an overhaul while sitting on the tarmac in Pakistan :cb:

Re: at the airport ...

Last time I boarded a plane was when I was 8 years old...

My daddy was the traveler, all I remember when we would pick him up from the M.I.A (Miami International Airport) was how long it would take him to actually get out.

Re: at the airport …

yaaaaaaaar … in Pak i went on a little field trip to the Nestle dairy farm about a 100km south of Lahore .. the cows were so damn cute .. when it was time for them to go give milk, the guy opened the door of their shed, and they automatically started moving towards the milking parlor .. IN A LINE!! .. i wanted to vdo that moment and project on a mega screen at Islamabad airport

Re: at the airport …

LOL you know why cows learn to go into line dont you? Well just in case most are at some poitn brought into line by :jj:

Maybe thats what we need at Airports… :jj:

Re: at the airport ...

oh yes, one more! there seems to be always 10 people coming to the airport to see their loved ones off. and last but not the least, desis talk too loud even in public places! :)

Re: at the airport …

Hahaaa also there is always the military aircraft at Islamabad, I know when I am home I can see the Fighter Jets waiting. :jhanda:

Re: at the airport ...

so Pakistani passengers and Pakistani airline/crew scenario..The most interesting dynamic i see is the gate agents and crew treating some people like **** because they think they can get away with it, and then seeing some passengers treat the gate agents and crew like **** because they think they can get away with it.

Re: at the airport ...

i dun know i haven't traveled to pak since last 6 years...

Re: at the airport ...

I dont particuarly like PIA, cos in my experience the service is always below what it should be. i remember on one flight asking a female flight attendant for a glass of water, she grimaced at my request and i basically didnt see her for the rest of the flight.

Me and hubby went by Emirates to Pakistan a couple of years ago, there was a stopover in dubai both ways, and each plane was delayed. it was reaaaaaaaaaaallly tiring. On the way to Pakistan, in dubai, everyone boarded the plane, we were good to go and then got told we wouldnt be moving cos there was really bad fog. we sat in the plane for THREE hours omg, it was horrible. To keep us happy(and quiet lol) the attendants gave us a meal and lots of drinks. Eventually the fog cleared, but then we were told by the pilot that we were in a queue of planes waiting to take off. After about half an hour a small group of men (pakistani of course) got up out of their seats and cornered a flight attendant (female)and started yelling at her. Poor woman. i felt really sorry for her, the men were so uncouth. However, their shouting worked cos we took off soon after lol.

Islamabad airport is awful, just because its really disorganised, and because of the people behind the narcotics counter asking for money, and because of the airport workers that help man the non existant queue asking hubby who i am in relation to him, why we're travelling together blah blah.
My sister, she came back from Pakistan recently, and at the narcotics counter, the guy asked her to open her suitcase, she said no, he said ok i'll just break the lock and do it myself.lol.

Re: at the airport ...

12 years here, so my views may be outdated, although i have seen that sort of drama at check in for PIA at Heathrow and also in Chicago

Re: at the airport ...

All of that is common all over the world. It's not uncommon for queues to form, and people sitting in the plane waiting for take off.

Edit: I meant the delays, not people yelling at flight attendant.

Re: at the airport ...

Yup, i dont doubt that, my story was more about the guys yelling at the attendant though, not the delay.
