During 2005 alone, 377 people deserted and are still missing. So far this year another 189 are on the run.
Some 900 have evaded capture since the Iraq war started, official figures say.

Thats ~10-15% of the forces sent there

When i read this on BBC, i knew it was only a matter of time that this will get posted on Gupshup so that all the other anti-uk, anti-usa and anti-israeli posters will come here and gloat and show how the brave iraqi warriors are turning the tide in iraq and the zionist/jewish invasion led by the christian armies is doomed to failure.

Before we start BS’ing lets first look at numbers for U.S deserters. This news item is 2 years old. Im sure the numbers have increased since then.

like me, there were many people in UK and USA who were agaisnt the war so i am not surprised some of them have left

I’m wondering that myself. mercenary2k, bear in mind that as a Canadian or a Pakistani citizen, since both are Commonwealth members, you are eligible to join the British Army as either an Officer or an Enlisted man.

If your support the war in Iraq… go and fight it.
