At home hair color

current color:

Want to go:

Wannabe:

As i can see from the other picture (wiht sunlight)..im not even dark brown. im all black…

can that above color be achieved with an at-home hair color? or is my best bet a salon? i saw a few hair colors at the drugstore that promised to turn even the darkest hair blonde. they look soooo tempting but…idk.
I also see hair color for black women but im pretty sure that wont work for me.

Re: At home hair color

I guess you should go to salon. The lighter shades are not easy to handle. Do you straighten your hair though?

Re: At home hair color

No but i do blowdry it 2-3 times a week. use a straightener just for a few pieces...not too much

Re: At home hair color

If you don't want to get your hair professionally done you might have to bleach your hair inorder to go really light. Though I would advice you to get it professionally done.

Re: At home hair color

yeah I think going to Saloon is better !!

Sara, I would recommend going to a salon for this. To reach this color you would have to strip off your dark brown color…and you want to go a lot of shades lighter which can very tricky. I have only tried to do this at home once..and it was a disaster…a I had to go to the salon to get it fixed. I guess it’s because only professionals when to stop the bleaching..we can really damage our hair in an attempt to go lighter or end up with an ugly orangy blonde which happened to me.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any pics but here’s a blog that you will find helpful (I LOVE HER BLOG)

Hope that helps!

U'd have to have u're entire mane bleached for that color to penetrate u're hair shaft as u're current color is an intense black. Lighter colors won't turn-out the way u're hoping for.

If u're bent on going that light, instead of dying all u're hair that color opt for a few low-lights.. (a few shades lighter).

Re: At home hair color

so gina tell me dat if we go for few low lights as u said above then is it possible to get widout get the hair bleached?i hv intense black colored hair too n i dont wanna get them bleached bcuz my hair r already damaged from bleached(i hv got it many times b4) now i dont want further damaga of my hair..so can i hv low lights wid out any bleach??

No, if you have really dark/intense black hair then lighter colors won't show-up. You will have to bleach the sections before you dye them the desired color. Bleaching sections is less harmful then bleaching all u're hair which is required if you wish to dye your hair lighter.

If you don't want to dye/bleach you may get hair-weaves added-in (of the color you wish)

Re: At home hair color

I'd advise going to a salon since you're going several shades lighter. I tried something similar at home but it didn't work out. I went and had it done at a salon instead. Honestly believe me its not worth the hassle of attempting this at home. Let the experts take care of it :)
