Aston University in Birmingham

I am planning to apply to the Aston Business School Research program. I know that they are accredited. Any insights/impressions specially from UK guppies would be greatly appreciated. Is it considered a good business school? Any desi teachers/students there? How about crimes etc. in the surrounding areas?

...

Aston is regarded as really crap.

^^ on the contrary I've heard their e-Business research center is one of a kind...

sorry Jayzee can't help you more than that... not very familiar with schools in the U.K.

This might be of some help..

Forget those rankings, they are only a rough guide. For instance Kings College London is a Heavyweight in British Education but is #22 whilst Loughborough is #10 and no one has even heard of it.

The basic logic is that the well known universities are superior irrespective of ranking. For instance Loughborough or SOAS-where would you rather graduate from?

depends on your definition of superior - I can give you tons of examples from my M.B.A. years where a low ranking school did much better along multiple dimensions including starting salaries, alumni job profiles, student case competitions etc. as compared to a high ranking school !

Thanks so much for the info. You r right, reputation or ratings alone are not enough. The criteria i used was US accreditation and research ratings by british council. Aston is only one of the 8 UK business schools accredited by aacsb, the premier us accreditation agency. British council gives Aston a perfect score, 24/24.

^^ There you go! AACSB is an important consideration to look into for sure!!

city uni is gd :k:

Thanks umar bhai... by the way, does any one go to aston? or do u know anyone who goes to aston? I had a lot of questions regarding the overall university that maybe a student can answer best.
