Astala Vista

Assalamo Alaikum

There are times in life when one has to turn a page. Leave behind something and move on to something else. After giving it some thought I think this the time I leave this BB because I like most you I used come here to relax or have a laugh, NOT to get stressed or be angry when I log off . This BB has been a part of part of my life for more than a year on and off. I dropped by here only once in a while when my University was close or between the semesters or when I just wanted to give myself a break from all the Engineering stuff that I have to deal with at work and in classes at University so I would drop by here instead of going the Bar across the street. I was not a regular because unlike most of you “ Uzghar-khail “ (do nothing) I have a life J. During this more than one year, this place has changed a lot. Some for better some for worse. The worst of all that have changed are the moderators. Some of those who used to criticize moderators become moderators and I guess it’s a little too much for them to handle. The seat of power though its only virtual power (Thanks Allah) is gone to their head and I guess their failure to be something or someone in real life and than this chance at being moderators provides a way out for their frustration. To satisfy their “ power dreams “ that failed in real life they unconsciously turned into “ chief Marshal Law Administrators “ of this unreal cyber world. Self appointed “ Manner police “. Like one of em said in one of the threads “ Follow my rules or else “. Its amazing how some people think the world circle around them even though it’s a virtual world we are talking about here. Hmmmm what to say except that
“ Excuse me General “. Seriously I wonder when are Pakis gona ever learn the definition of words like “ DEMOCRACEY “ and “ FREEDOM OF SPEECH “. If some doesn’t agree with you, you can’t silence him/her and than expect to grow as an individual or as a nation. You people are still living in the middle ages. Shutting up opponents is not in fashion in the 21 century. Actually its not just Pakistan and Pakis, it a tragedy with Muslim world. Where else in the world nations in today’s modern world have Dumb head Chief Marshallaw Administrators and good for nothing Kings from the Stone Age running countries and deciding the fate of their nations..? Only in Muslim world. While the world crossing new frontiers in Space, deep down earth, and Seas, your leaders biggest concern is how to “ roast “ the opponents who do not agree with them and this is the same attitude inherited by the “ Cyber Kings “ Moderators here. I bet they look and mirror, smiles , look at their non-existent muscles and feel power full after banning someone from this BB or deleting posts that don’t agree with their Marshallaw mentality. These people with their Marshallaw mentality are like visitors from “ Planet of the Apes “ in today’s open, democratic, and free world. Its hard to them to comprehend these concepts.

Now let me talk about my personal conduct a little because self-analysis has always been the light that showed me the right path if and when I was wrong. I am a person with very strong opinion about issues and if I am convinced I am right than I really don’t give a damn if the whole universe is taking the opposite side.

I might have offended people here. Well lets take that “ might be “ out of the previous sentence  I have offended people but I am NOT sorry because if I offended you, it was either you deserved it, or you are too dumb to differentiate between a joke and serious insult. Another thing that Allah has blessed people in the western world with is that always to speak your mind. I always spoke my mind and exactly how I felt or thought. For example of I said negative things about people from Karachi ( not all of them ), it all came from my personal experience and my encounters with people from that part of Pakistan and I was NOT going to join the chorus of “ great karachiets “ just to be
“ in the gang “ Everything negative thing I said about Karachiets was honestly by God from my personal experience with Karachiets, if somebody didn’t like it, all I can say is DUH.

About my “ touchy “ feeling for Peshawar, well I guess its hard for someone who lives in Peshawar to understand. I am from a small village out side Peshawar city. Yeah me a pindo hahhahaha. Last time I even visited Peshawar was 10 years ago. By Paki standards I shouldn’t give a damn even if someone nukes Peshawar, however that’s where my roots are, thats where my “ mittee “ is from, that’s where my Identity come from. It’s a place where (in some corner of my mind) I still belong. A place that is HOME . A place I still strive to see. A place I still love though some people might think it’s the most boring place on planet earth. By God I would smoke Paris, New York, and London over the dusty streets of my village in Peshawar. Like one of the song by the Pashto singer Sardar Ali Takar that says.

“ Ma lidalee da Paris khukalee Baghoona…

Ma lidalee da London Lowar mahaloona..

Kho chi khepal the khato kore mi rapayaad shee …

Rana heer shee da dunya wara khaistoona “

Tranlation : I have been seen the beautiful gardens of Paris, I have seen the beautiful high palaces of London but when the image of my dusty, mud made village crosses my mind, I forget all the beauty of the world i.e The beauty of Paris and London is nothing compared to the dusty streets of my city.

So may be I over reacted compelled by my “ touchy” feelings when I saw someone putting down Peshawar. But still Allah knows my response was meant to be what they call in Urdu “ nook Joonk “ ….? And NOT an attack in personal and serious sense. I do NOT regret anything because if you can’t take a little heat in humor, you shouldn’t be on the internet. Because unlike the controlled and closed society of Pakistan, internet is a FREE world and anybody can say anything worse to you.

Anyway its all past, history, by gone is by gone, It was nice knowing most of you, not so nice knowing some of you ;). Damn my honesty hahahahahaha.

Farewell.

On a second thought. Maybe some of these issues should be addressed.

…Self appointed “ Manner police “. Like one of em said in one of the threads “ Follow my rules or else “.

(First of all we dont enforce our rules. Any isues that anyone has with any regulations can be sent to TOPP mgmt. Its not follow MY rules, but follow TOPP rules that you agreed to when you joined the forum)

“ Excuse me General “. Seriously I wonder when are Pakis gona ever learn the definition of words like “ DEMOCRACEY “ and “ FREEDOM OF SPEECH “.

(About the same time we will learn decency, civilized debate and respect for others as well as a responsible use of the freedom of speech)

If some doesn’t agree with you, you can’t silence him/her and than expect to grow as an individual or as a nation.

(Posts are edited or deleted when they are offensive, attack people and have a negative impact on the direction and quality of discussion)

You people are still living in the middle ages… with them and this is the same attitude inherited by the “ Cyber Kings “ Moderators here.

(Thanks for the politics lesson. as far as the world goes there are penty of countries and nations with the types of political problems that you mentioned, dont just look at the industrial nations)

(…these are rules we all agreed upon when we press that “I accept” button. The concept is fairly easy to comprehend…you accepted certain rules when you joined..if you dont agree with them, voice your opinion to the TOPP mgmt. You were politely asked to keep the conversation and dialogue decent and once that was not done…appropriate action was taken i.e. editting your post.)

Now let me talk about my personal conduct a little ....I have offended people but I am NOT sorry because if I offended you, it was either you deserved it, or you are too dumb to differentiate between a joke and serious insult.

(Similarly if your posts were edited or deleted its because they deserved it or that you were unable to differentiate between whats civilized, respectful and decent to post and whats not.)

Another thing that Allah has blessed people in the western world with is that always to speak your mind.

(Yes, speak your mind but be considerate. As far as the west goes. Irresponsible use of speaking one’s mind results in defamation suits, libel and harrassment cases etc etc.
The objection is not with anyone speaking their mind, but in the manner that it is communicated, the word selection etc)

I always spoke my mind and exactly how I felt or thought. For example of I said negative things about people from Karachi …if somebody didn’t like it, all I can say is DUH.

(Again, the problem is with the manner those opinions were expressed not the opinions.)

About my “ touchy “ feeling for Peshawar, …

(Its good to see someone so caring of his roots and native city…and we would have liked to learn your perspectives and hear your views..)

So may be I over reacted compelled by my “ touchy” … But still Allah knows my response was meant to be what they call in Urdu “ nook Joonk “ ….? And NOT an attack in personal and serious sense.

(Again, with freedom comes responsibility to use that freedom in a manner that would not infringe on others’ rights and feelings. I dont doubt what your intentions were and that you probably did not mean to attack someone personally, but that is what you ended up with..)

I do NOT regret anything because if you can’t take a little heat in humor, you shouldn’t be on the internet.

(similarly, if you can not respect the policies of any place, you should not be there)

“ And when you speak, speak your mind bluntly “ (Quran)

(I did not have time to find words from Quran that talk about respect for others, decency etc, but we all know there are many.)

Senor Nacionalisto

First of all, It is not Astala Vista (unless it is a Pathan annunciation), but Hasta Le Vista. Usted entiende?

Secondly, as my hermano AlFredo pointed out, we do have lives and jobs (sometimes low paying ones, but jobs nonetheless).

Lastly, please develop some thick skin (to match your brains).

Adios

Nationalist,

You love Peshawar and consider it to be best place on the earth for reasons of your own, but not everbody thinks that and they should have right to express their views.

You talk about freedom of expression, at the same time get very angry and personal if someone, other then you, excises it.

Humsay's view of Peshawar are as valid as yours, please give us your views of Peshwar but allow others to express their views without attacking them personally.

Afterall we all see world from our own (different) vantage point.

Nationalist Rora....I wasn't offended. I can understand your strong feelings for Pekhawar because most of my pals share your views as well. But like you don't regret what you say, neither do I :)I've my own views I guess!
