Attack on Pakistan PM candidate
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- President Pervez Musharraf's hand-picked choice to become Pakistan's next prime minister, Shauket Aziz, has survived two blasts -- one a suicide bombing -- that killed six people and injured 22 others.
"Thank God the senior minister is safe. We are investigating the incident," Pakistan's Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat said after Friday's attack.
The assassination attempt on Aziz, currently Pakistan's finance minister, occurred in Fateh Jang about 45 miles north of Islamabad, Pakistani police said.
In December, there were two failed attempts to assassinate President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who blamed al-Qaida for the bombings.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is currently prime minister, but Aziz is to take over the post under an agreement reached late last month between lawmakers and Musharraf.
Hussain replaced Zafarullah Khan Jamali, who had served for 19 months but had reportedly fallen out with Musharraf.
Aziz, an international banker, is credited with salvaging Pakistan's near-bankrupt economy after international sanctions were imposed in 1998 in reaction to the testing of nuclear missiles.

what are ure comments on this?
oh boy!!!
May Allah keep these people safe.
amin summa amin.
Shauket Aziz is the key player and motivator of the present shape of Pak economy. It was not an unexpected thing to happen. The fact is that Alqaida is so quick and prompt on this is scary,,,,
do u think that he is a suitable PM for pakistan or just another wimp?
What i dont understand is President, core comnd. & his ppl always survive the attacks, while the innocent ppl never do, even the other religious & political leaders in past few months didnt had luck.
R these really the attcks or something to divert the attention, or maybe be a lil famouse & gain the sympathies ![]()
Or maybe they just had better luck, in either case, this terrorist acts needs to be stop.
![]()
First you doubt it…& then you said these are terrorist attacks???
They r terrorist attacks.
I only doubt on who stage them :o
![]()
If they are terrorist attacks…then terrorists staged them..haven’t they??:o
Exactly my point, they certainly did.

he was saved coz the car was a right hand drive...bvut the poor driver and others lost their lives :(
i wonder whos doing all this...its so messed up .. :/
hmm..
the day before this attack Jeo tv repeatidly aired warning of a possible suicide attack on Masaajids or Imam bargah, specially durring Jumma prayers. They also said of possibility of female suicide bombing.
It may be the reaction to the arrest of FBI's top wanted terrorist by Pakistan few days ago.
Anyway may Allah give the patience to greived families of the victims who lost life in this attack.
Before 9/11 and Al Qaida's campiagn, suicide bombing was unheard of in Pakistan. Now it is almost monthly. Geo even showed the video at the moment of the explosion. Clearly this is just another result of the army's failed Afghan experiment.
That guy is lucky to have escaped virtually unharmed.
