Yes, the benefit is more for their allies israel and saudi. Iran is the main supporter of hamas, islamic jihaad and hizbullah. Syria was their only way in during mubarak era, but now egypt is another possibilty.
The saudis and gulf arabs on the other hand, hate hamas and hizb like anything… Not least because they are shia or pro shia.
They have actively supported the US and israel to get rid off them, not just through funding political parties and influencing elections ( even paying for free flights for thousands of sunni lebanese expats to return to vote) , but also enforcing the siege in gaza via egypt! During the isreali assualt on gaza/ lebanon, they were supporting israel in the hope that they would get rid of or atleast weaken hizb and hamas.
Neither worked of course, they the militias have come back stronger and even more popular. Hence when king abdullah ( may he go to hell soon) of saudi was exposed by wikileaks, saying to the US to cut off the ‘snakes head’ he was referring to iran. This was when iran and saudi were on their friendliest term… And the weasel still couldnt subside his racism.
The intent now well known of these taghutis was to first get rid of hamas/ hizb and then move on to iran. But they failed on the first attempt thankfully, but it was not for want of trying.
They are also not only busy crushing the shia protests in the eastern oil rich province of saudi, but also crushing the shia majority protests in bahrain in fear of irans influence. Their sectarian hatred knows no bounds.
Now their collective plan is first to get rid of assad ( thinking it will weaken the hizb, hamas and isolate iran), and then move onto iran. But they plot and plan ( and burn), whilst God plans and plots as well, and this too shall be foiled and iran shall come out victorious as always. :-).
