How many minutes before Maghrib can you pray asr salah if you’ve missed it? Same question goes for Fajr Salah
Re: Asr Salaah
you should try and pray it as soon as possible really.. delaying it unnecessarily is sinful
Re: Asr Salaah
i think it really depends on the time difference between the two salah...it should be prayed before sunset...however as u're in uk then i think asr should be prayed 15-20mins before sunset(not maghrib salah time)
Re: Asr Salaah
Some scholars say that you can pray you missed namaz till it is time for the next namaz.
Quran is silent on this matter , it only mentions that you should strive to pray your namaz on time.
There are many ahadees which also emphasize the need to pray namaz on time.
Look at this hadees.
“Whoever forgets a prayer must perform it when they remember it…” [Bukhari (597), and Muslim (684)]
This hadees may be taken as a basis and you can pray it whenever you remember the timing is not of the essence here.
I have found a report of a hadees ( I could not find the source yet) in which it is mentioned that if you go to masjid and you see that the congregations prayer has started or is about to start when you enter. You should pray congregation prayer instead of offering your missed prayer.
We can deduce another point from this hadees:
You are supposed to pray your missed prayer before the next one.
How many minutes before Maghrib can you pray asr salah if you've missed it? Same question goes for Fajr Salah
I am assuming this question is for individual salah (and not with Jamat).
Before we talk about timing, we should understand the basic purpose of salah that it is meant to fill your "spiritual petrol tank" and get you going for the next "filling station".
Allah swt has for our benefits set up regular intervals where we should take a break from daily grind and fill up our physical and spiritual petrol tanks.
Here is the general roadmap for such fill-ups.
Fillup #1 - An hour or so before the sunrise (Fajar)
Fillup #2 - After lunch (Zuhar)
Fillup #3 - half between lunch and evening (Asar)
Fillup #4 - After way dinner (Maghrib)
Fillup #5 - Before going to bed. (Isha)
So treat your typical day as if you were traveling on the highway of life and you do need to make at least 5 stops.
On each stop you pause, do wudoo, and take deep breaths, lower the noise around you, bring calmness by enveloping your body and soul with restful environment, where you wash away your physical impurities by wodoo/ghusal and your spiritual impurities by meditating and being in the presence of Allah swt.
Let's suppose for some reason you couldn't stop for Fillup #3 (Asar) and now you are within a short distance fro your filling station #4 (Maghrib), then it doesn't make sense to rush and make one stop for fillup #3 and then 10 minutes later making another stop for the fillup #4 even though your spiritual tank just got filled at #3.
Think about this! If you were traveling on a highway, would you make these kind of stops with 10 minutes intervals between them?
Many people won't because if they miss a stop (say #3), and they are close to their normal stop #4, then they'd rather wait for the NEXT stop.
Prayers too should be treated as your restful stops, and not some bland 2 minute quickie where you don't really get any benefit from this uthak bathak.
In fact these kind of hurried, inattentive, rakooh and sajood is not good and we should not joke around with meditation by doing a 2 minute routines with salah.
For salah, you should be well rested and well fed. We should not pray just before having lunch or just before having dinner or just before having breakfast. When smell of food is wafting through the house, and your stomach is running on fumes, then do not pray and instead eat first.
Hope this clarifies how often we should pray and at what times.
May Allah swt accept our salah and meditations.

the answer is not suitable for all - as everyone has a different level of intellect and taqwa
How many minutes before Maghrib can you pray asr salah if you've missed it? Same question goes for Fajr Salah
Asr time ends with the start of Maghrib time. However, 20 mins before sunset(i.e. maghrib time) is considered makrooh time..so it is not preferable to read in this makrooh time. A person should offer the Salah as soon as possible..but if for some valid reasons a person couldn't, then s/he can pray Asr salah before Maghrib time starts.
Time for Fajr ends with the sunrise.
p.s. this is according to Fiqh Hanafi.
