Some people on this forum have now started a practice that is prohibited by the following ayah in Surah Al-Ma’idah:
The ayah is not time-limited and is applicable even today. Asking irrelevant questions for the sake of asking them, and not for knowledge, is what is covered by this ayah according to tafseer.

Here you go.....let's pray that Allah save us from the Evil of un-neccessary and irrelevent questioning and discussions.
Some people on this forum have also made it a practice of using this bulletin board to paddle their narrow interpretation of a great Deen, endorsing and forcefully defending fatwas of great scholars, however when explanatory and supplementary questions are asked, they disappear. They are too quick to judge other people’s intentions and keep a closed mind, which does not allow them to learn anything new.
May Allah protect us from all sin.
In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Can any one tell me physically what is called the mosque?
I mean, would all the area covered by the outside wall be a mosque or only the area where we say our prayer which starts from the point where we can not take our shoes?
This was exactly the question some one asked to the Imam of our neighbourhood mosque and he had a great debate with the other members of mosque.
Brother Qaasim, question you asked is altogether a separate issue, you are welcome to create a separate thread for that. BTW, the area where you say salaat is "the mosque" by our/scholars definition. Taking shoes off is a 'social' type of requirement, its not 'religious' requirement.
Coming back to the topic, brother FactFinder, its true that "unnecessary" questions should not be asked. Would you mind to mention ayats before and after the one you pasted here?
How would you know if a question is "relevant"?
Who defines what is "relevant" and what is "irrelevant" ?
My understanding is, that we should not ask question like the Jews asked Hazrat Musa AH when he told Allah SWT's order about slaughtering a cow (they asked about color, age etc.) but it does not mean that we should abondon asking questions altogether. We should be open to 'thinking', we should not regard a question as "irrelevant" which we are unable to answer.
Questions like "why Islam is male-dominating" seem to be irrelevant... but then again, ALLAH SWT knows the best.
May Allah SWT guide us all towards right and help us follow the right
