Asking someone for more help

Lets say you casually talked to a person who is well connected in a field that you are “kind of” contemplating trying but not really sure.
Anyway, the said person thought you are really interested and they have forwarded you some links of interest to you. Now while you’re not sure if you can do well in such a field but you certainly want to take up on the challenge. Now my question is how would you ask this person for more help? Keep in mind you are not sure of your own capabilities, you are not entirely sure of the field, you want to write a response back to the said person showing great interest (which is not untrue), and want some more leads on contacts, guidance, ect?

I dont know if my questions make any sense.

Re: Asking someone for more help

There's no harm in asking for more help... in fact it might show your enthusiasm. What you need to do however is make sure that the other person doesn't feel that you're bothering him/her without doing any legwork on your own. The resources that were provided to you in the first instance... go through them thoroughly and may be come up with a couple of really good questions to ask based on that information. It'll show the person that you've taken the time to review the information and you're asking valid and useful questions. Also try to formulate your queries so that you can relate your trepidations to the requirements of the field in a positive manner. For example, don't say that "I'm not sure whether I can ... "... but rather, "My aptitude/skills/background is ... would this be a good fit ..." etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, appreciate all your suggestions. Coming up with some really good questions is what I am finding a bit of a task.
