Asking questions if you already know - Good or Bad

START WITH THE NAME OF ALLAH WHO IS THE MOST MERCIFUL AND THE MOST GRACIOUS

Sometime good students in a class ask questions even they already know. This is because “to make the other students learn and create interest in them about a perticular topic”. In other words they assist teachers to finish the class in better way with question-answer session.

Those students who dont want even to learn they dont like this practice of asking questions and put different allegations on good students and always try to divert the topic to somewhere else.

Teachers also ask questions to their students while he already know about the answer. “Good learning starts with questions, not answers,” says Guy Claxton, professor of learning science at Bristol University. The consensus is that questioning leads to more effective learning - and more enjoyable teaching - than explanation alone.

Questions serve many purposes. They can help pupils to reflect on information and commit it to memory. They can develop thinking skills, encourage discussion and stimulate new ideas. Questions allow teachers to determine how much a class understands and enable them to pitch lessons at an appropriate level. They are an important tool for managing the classroom, helping to draw individuals into the lesson and keeping them interested and alert. And questions have a symbolic value - sending a clear message that pupils are expected to be active participants in the learning process.

Short Example:
The way how Imam Hassan(AS) and Imam Hussain (AS) taught correct method of Wudu to an old man when both were little children. Just by asking question.

Readers of this are invited to add more examples in islamic history. i dont remember the correct reference of the above example if somebody have kind post it. thanks

i could have asked the question that

The person who is asking a question how does he know about answer, how would he guess that the question is "right" or "wrong"? It is said "Sit in the company of knowledgable people like Jahil and listen them and ask them question like stupids." However its true that always bringing those questions which lead you to some kind of fight and rift among people is wrong. Being a responsible person it is his duty, whom the question is asked to answer, all kinds of questions rether then asking him "not to ask these kinds of questions" because these things will show that there is something "Daal main kala", Like Roman Catholics, they did not allow people to ask questions because they know they themself were wrong. I believe that in Islam for every question there is a satisfying answer, depends on person who is answering.

Is discussing religions and their comparative studies HARAM?
If this discussion is HARAM or not allow then what kind of Discussion is allowed.. what are the topic. keep this thing in mind that Discussion can only possible when two people have opposing views.

Can you tell the truth or falsehood of a sect by just watching the deeds of one king who belong to it and responsible for bringing disasters on Muslims.

What if you find lots of other examples from different other sects. Would you try to justify it by introducing the term of "Ijtahadi Mastake".

1) who is caliph hakim?
2) Questions are the best way to educate others as it comes with a thought process and reasoning. Its a much better option than to just come out and blatantly state your opinions and judgements with no hint of where the idea came from and which is more likely to offensive.

interesting post inuit...inshallah brother rehman will get it one day

* This is not the question; to be discussed in this thread. He used this name as example. if you still want to know about him; who he was? ask the question in a new thread. It is a good practice if you try to stay in topic while discussing

Thanks Br. Sheraz CT, What i believe; Br. Rehman1 is an understanding person.

The second of the 40 Hadith compiled by An-Nawawi is:

[quote]
Also on the Authority of `Umar (ra) , who said:
One day while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (saws) there appeared before us a man whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of journey were to be seen on him and none of us knew him. He walked up and sat down by the Prophet (saws).

Resting his hands against his and placing the palms of his hands on his thighs he said: O Muhammad, tell me about Islaam. The Messenger of Allah said: Islaam is to testify that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to perform prayers, to make zakaah, to fast in Ramadaan, and to make the pilgrimage to the House if you were able to do so.

He said: You have spoken rightly; and we were amazed at him asking him and saying that he had spoken rightly. He said: Tell me about eeman. He said: It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny, both the good and the evil thereof. He said: You have spoken rightly.

He said: Then tell me about ihsaan. He said: It is to worship Allah as though you are seeing Him and while you see Him not, yet truly He sees you.

He said: Then tell me about the Hour. He said: The one questioned about it knows no better than the questioner. He said: Then tell me about its signs. He said: that the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and that you will see barefooted, naked destitute herdsmen competing in constructing lofty buildings.

*Then he took himself off and I stayed for a time. Then he said: O `Umar, do you know who the questioner was? I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: It was Gabriel, who came to teach you your religion. *

It was related by Muslim.

You can see in the last paragraph that Rasulullah (saws) himself educated Umar Ibn Al Khattab (ra) through asking him a question to which Rasulullah (saws) already knew tha answer.
