Perhaps you can avoid bumping into him or just tell him now is not a good time for you to be getting into a relationship.
I think this is a good approach and if he's decent he'll back off thinking you need time and space.
If he's desi and still keeps pestering you OP, then hopefully you have good friends in the offline world that can help you with getting him away from you.
Colleague situation should be easier because he would be risking losing his job if you report him so he would get the hint and back off.
